hmmmm well....... i never go on tour to hong kong because i lived in hong kong for quit a while bc i was born there. ^_^all i can say is to never but anything from sogo because its really expensive. i only bought a big hair clip there and it was $10.00 hk dollars. but that was pretty cheap. i went for one week with my family, and I, myslef, spent alot of money during the summer. everything is really pretty. and yes you heard right, there is alot of shops. if you are in the age of a pre-teen to a teen then i say go to Macau because out side the ship station is a plaza with OMG EVERYTHING YOU LOVEEEE. but since youre on a trip you cant go. i say bring
$1000+ of hong kong money. ^_^ this is how much you need for a good time.

:)

Your pocket money depends on what you want to do and how long you will be staying in HK. If you plan to go to any of the theme parks like HK Disneyland make sure you have around HK 5000 for shopping souvenirs. You would probably need around US$1000 for a 3 days trip. If you will shop in HK you would need more than this since it is now not so cheap to shop. Shopping in China(near the border like Shenzen is cheaper)

suggestion for things, bring only few clothes, you can buy there if you need an extra one..
whenever i go there, i always bring with me my credit cards and more money (you cannot resist buying coz it's very cheap) (You didn't say where you from...)
there are many shopping malls and small stores that are tempting and you will never leave those shops empty handed, so just be careful with the temptations or you will end up with broken pocket... :) you will save more penny if you have credit cards with you, just try to balance your expenses so you wouldn't be spending more...and you can also demand for lower prices esp on small shops nearby...
dont forget to go to central hongkong island, drop by the big shopping malls there, it's heaven...

mmm... shopping shopping and shopping?!? lol I mean hong kong is a great place for shopping. Want fancy, expensive stuff then shop in tsim sha tsui, Admiralty, Central etc. Wanna buy cheaper stuff go to mongkok (although there are also brand name shops there) Go to Chinese seafood restaurants Visit Victoria peak (it's pretty much the standard HK tourist destination) Go to Lantau Island for a day to see the big buddah and eat seafood I wouldn't recommand going to Disneyland unless you go with small children Go to Lan kwai fong at night for the nightlife

For packing items, you do not actually pack a lot of things as you can get lots of things in Hong Kong. As there is lots of restrictions on bringing items on board your flight and check in luggage, bring only what you actually need and not want.

For expenses, things in Hong Kong is rather less expensive than western standard. For dining, dining at one of the Hong Kong style coffee shop (茶餐廳,cha2can1ting1 in Mandarin), it will cost you around HK$20-50 per person, for one meal in the fast food outlet (大家樂), HK$20-40 per set meal is the norm (can be cheaper if there is promotion). For moderate dining, HK$50-100 is sufficient and for upscale restaurant, forked out at least HK$150 for a course in the restaurant.

You should have at least HK$150-300 per day per person for most budget conscious, HK$300-600 per day per person for moderate spender and at least HK$600 per day per person for spendthrift. Since you have plan on package tour, the rest can be bring by in cashless mode, since credit & debit card can be accepted in majority shops in Hong Kong. ATM is also widely available in Hong Kong, especially in Central & Tsim Sha Tsui, where I always draw my money for my trip in Hong Kong.

A trip in Hong Kong is definetly lots of fun and wish you have a fun trip for yourself and all your friends alike.

It depends on where you shop. NEVER shop at Nathan Rd! It is a tourist trap!
