might have been

the firmament around the earth protected men and men lives 900 yrs

animals must have had longer life spans as well

reptiles never stop growing so a 900 yr old alligator might have looked like .........like a dinosaur?

No, the old testament takes place only a few thousand years ago, and plants and animals haven't changed much since then. But some of them were fairly large several million years before.

Edit: As Chin points out, there has been some change in certain species. But nothing very dramatic.

yes and no . many plants and animals were smaller and larger back then , as an example horses that ordinated in north America were as small as an average size dog.
