I dont know whether to get a maltese or a yorkie.I already have a pomeranian.I've done research on both breeds and i just cant decide.i need opinions please.

i have owned both types and i would rather have a maltese any day.the yorkie was hard to house break. she never did get house broke. it only took 2 weeks to break my maltese.malteses' are much smarter than a yorkie.

Both breeds are a great choice. They come into our clinic all the time. You can always 'ask' your pom.....take him/her to visit a yorkie and a maltese and see what type of response she has to either breed. She may like one over the other.
As for getting along with other breeds one of our doctors has 3 yorkies and 2 chihuahuas living in the same household and they get along famously. It's all in how you bring them up.

I would speak with breeders in the area. Whomever is the best breeder gets my vote. However, I had a yorkie that did not like other dogs in our home. He wanted my undivided attention. But, if you got one as a puppy that is the opposite sex of your pom, it would probably work out. However the maltese would probably be the better fit with your pom IMO.

I am the proud owner of a MALTESE. He is very good around other dogs, people, and kids. He was very easy to train. My vote is 100% MALTESE!!!

If you decide Yorkie remember that they are very fragile
my friend tripped over his and accidentally broke it's neck
small children should not have yorkies and htey don't mix well with other pets bigger dogs can crush them easily
