so, if dogs ae being put into shelters and such, then euthanized, because there are too many dogs without homes, running loose, and being bred without planning, why would saving the pregnant dogs from euthanasia be a good idea? wouldnt you adding to the number of un-homed dogs?

They are not banned in Texas, but we are pretty far away. We'd foster her and the pups or find foster care that would have her spayed after the pups are weaned and she is healthy enough. We realize that's too far for a "busting" mom to go though!
I hope you find something like that in your area. Try some Pit Bull Rescues or No Kill Shelters in your area but make sure they are ones that won't use her as a breeder. Not because I am against breeding this great breed! Just, whenever there is a stray or abandoned dog that is or is not pregnant, I like to see them get spayed so they can enjoy life as a PET.
Hoping the best for her!

Is she able to be adopted out being a pit? Email me the information. I'm up north but have friends spread all over, someone may be able to help.
And to the horses ***es that tend to discriminate. The irresponsible owners that choose to have pits for whatever reason need to be wiped out - don't punish the dog as they are an outstanding breed when in the right hands! You can buy a gun at Wal-Mart to wound or kill, drink & drive on Alcohol - killing someone or several, and develop fatal diseases from Cigarettes -even passing them on second hand to others. ANYthing can be dangerous if in the hands of a moron. Don't blame the dog! A famous local man years back died from complications from Cat Scratch Fever. It's not just a song people! Let's wipe out the cats, as though I knew this man, I don't personally know anyone that has died from a pit bull attack.
Also funny when it makes the papers if it's NOT a pit bull that attacks - the breed isn't listed or if it's a mutt it's "assumed" to be a pit bull as it makes for more attention grabbing media.

That is so sad, can any one do something for her, Why would they do some thing like that to a helpless animal, they don't have no heart, I think that this is animal abuse, They kill them and they don't care if they suffer, Cause I saw a video and in my pont of view, I think that they do suffer when they are put down. Pit bulls are not dangeres, the dangers one is the people that train them. if you train them to be kind they will be, but if you train them to fight and be mean then so be it , sorry I can't help

With BSL, you might simply be delaying the inevitable. The same danger will apply to the pups that is to her right now. If nothing else, you could bail her out and take her to a vet to have this done humanely. I know it's not a good option, but it might be the only one if you can't find a home. It is certainly better than a gas chamber. I'm sorry.

Here in Australia, pitbulls are also banned, except for those with a permit. The way i see it, its a chain-reaction. If you ban the breed (which applies to the shelters in the banned areas) you can't do anything except re-house the b itch to a legal zone. The BREED is banned, not the tempermant of the dog. She will be euthanized if she is pregnant, as will her pups be if they are born because of thier blood only. This is a question you need to direct to the 'better breeders' on this page. I love pitbulls, in the right hands. Why were they allowed to breed into the 'bloodthirsty monsters' that they have been depicted to be? When will you people learn that dogs are animals with natural urges and behaviour instincts?? They aren't humans, even tho u allow them to sleep on your beds, they fit into human life because they must be part of a pack and they aren't species specific, they don't care if they live with us, or monkeys, they AREN'T human. They only care about fitting in. Yes, that includes pitt-bulls, with the correct leadership. Monkeys understand it...

Maybe you can get in touch with an AKC American Staffordshire Terrier rescue club. They could make a network posting on their web site, maybe someone might want her.
