The court will probably make sure that they cover whatever damages they are responsible for from the accident. Then (here) they would get a $500.00 fine for no insurance, a $175.00 fine for the signal, and up to $500 and 5 days in jail for the hit and run.

Sounds like old Ted Kennedy leaving the scene of an accident.

One thing that always comes to mind is were you drunk at the time of the accident and fled the scene to avoid being tested.

Just because the only damage at the time they fled the scene was a dented fender, secondary accidents can arise as a result of the cars being left at the first accident and flares, cones not being put in place. By fleeing the scene, you left it that another accident could occur, and in that one a person could be injured or killed.

I would expect some fines that would make insurance payments look cheap and some community service time. They may also pull your license for 3-6 months.

The second that you leave the scene ,it's a crime always stay at the scene and you would have only received a ticket for no insurance and a accident report would have been taken. My advice is to retain a lawyer for your own benefit do not go to court with out one.Source retired police officer

oh dear...people sometimes panic i know, but to flee the scene of an accident is a crime in itself. the insurace premium will be higher if convicted, but i'm not sure at what range the fines are set.
