If you can answer this question of mine, you will have the answer to yours.

Does my body have a different name from my soul?

To one, I am Daddy. To another, I am Husband. And yet, to a third, I am an employee. The list continues, but are these my name, or just my identity?

God said His Name is "I AM THAT I AM". In another portion of Scripture, He also gave His Name as El Shaddai.

Then there is the Name, "YHVH" or transliterated to "Jehovah" which is the most common of the actual names He gave us.

Then there are all the combined names, such as Jehovah my Healer (YHVH Rophe), Jehovah My Banner (YHVH Nissi), Jehovah My Righteousness (YHVH Tszidkenu), Jehovah My Provider (YHVH Jireh), et cetera.

Each and every one of these are names that God, Himself, gave out in different passages.

The actual name of Jesus is Yehoshua in the Hebrew. In Greek, it is pronounced Yeshua. Transliterated into English, it is Jesus. You decide which language you prefer, then use THAT name. Oh, yeah, Yeshua is also transliterated into English as Joshua.

But, just referring to God as "God" or "Lord" is sufficient. I know that there are some who are so hung up and nitpicky over silly little things, that (in the words of Jesus) they swallow a camel and strain at a gnat.

You can call Him by any name in the Bible, but if you don't have an intimate relationship with Him, then it's all verbage anyway, and you can say His name better than anybody else, but it won't help one bit on judgement day.

God said "Let the one who wants to boast, boast that He KNOWS (Yada = intimate very personal "knowledge") Me."

The entire passage says, "Let not the rich man boast of his riches, nor the mighty man boast of his strength. But let him who boasts, boast in this, that He KNOWS me, the only true God, who executes righteousness, justice, and loving kindness" (I sure hope I didn't mistake in that quote at the very end of the passage).

I pray that this helps you get a better perspective of things.

God bless you in your search for God's Truth :-)

Jesus and God are two different persons. Jesus is the son of God. Jesus = Jesus and God's name is Jehovah. Psalms 83:18 " That people may know that you, whose name is Jehovah, You alone are the Most High over all the earth."

In the King James Version Bible .Elohim is the very first title
of God that you encounter in the Bible. The Hebrew trans-
-lation for the name GOD is actually EL, or Elohim.
"In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth"-
Genesis 1. 1 Fascinating in it's translation, this name is one
of God's more frequently occuring titles; it shows up over
2,500 times in the Bible. It's important that we understand its
meaning. Derived from the Hebrew word Chavah, which
means "to live", the name JEHOVAH is literally full of life. It is
written into the King James Version as Lord, and it means
"to be", or "being". Other names of God are EL SHADDAI,
Adonai, Jehovah Jireh, Jehovah M'Kaddesh, Jehovah Nissi,
Jehovah Rophe, Jehovah Shalom, Jehovah Tsidkenu, Jehov-
-ah Rohi, Jehovah Shammah, El Elyon, Jehovah Tsebaoth,
Jehovah Makkeh, Jehovah Gmolah, Jehovah Elohay, El-Elo-
-he-Israel, and Jehovah Eloheenu. In the book of Isaiah in
th King James Version we see some other names of our Lord
Jesus Christ and it goes like this Isaiah 9.6 For unto us a
child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall
be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful
Counsellor,The mighty God,The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace. I trust this will be enough to whet your
appetite and encourage you to plunge yourself into the Holy
Scriptures and learn more of The Gracious Loving Heavenly
Father that we have who is also our Creator. May God Bless
you abundantly in your studies. Dougie

*LOOK THIS UP IN YOUR BIBLE TOO*
Psalms 83:18 states "That people may know that you, whose name is Jehovah, You alone are the Most High over all the earth." Jehovah is God's personal name, God is just a title, like mr President or King.
As for Jesus, his name was Michael in heaven. Scriptural evidence indicates that the name Michael applied to God’s Son before he left heaven to become Jesus Christ and also after his return. Michael is the only one said to be “the archangel,” meaning “chief angel,” or “principal angel.” The term occurs in the Bible only in the singular. This seems to imply that there is but one whom God has designated chief, or head, of the angelic host. At 1 Thessalonians 4:16 the voice of the resurrected Lord Jesus Christ is described as being that of an archangel, suggesting that he is, in fact, himself the archangel. This text depicts him as descending from heaven with “a commanding call.” It is only logical, therefore, that the voice expressing this commanding call be described by a word that would not diminish or detract from the great authority that Christ Jesus now has as King of kings and Lord of lords. (Mt 28:18; Re 17:14) If the designation “archangel” applied, not to Jesus Christ, but to other angels, then the reference to “an archangel’s voice” would not be appropriate. In that case it would be describing a voice of lesser authority than that of the Son of God.
In any case, I urge you to contact Jehovah's Witnesses, who would be happy to show you from the bible more about Jehovah and his son Jesus and all that He has in store for mankind by means of his Kingdom. www.watchtower.org

Jehovah is God and Jesus is his son. Remember in Indiana Jones he has to step on blocks and spell out God's name. They are 2

2007-10-31 01:51:40 · answer #7 · answered by wifeofkpfan 1 · 0 0

No, they must have the same name because God is one.

5Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus:
6Who, being in very nature[a] God,
did not consider equality with God something to be grasped,
7but made himself nothing,
taking the very nature[b] of a servant,
being made in human likeness.
8And being found in appearance as a man,
he humbled himself
and became obedient to death—
even death on a cross!
9Therefore God exalted him to the highest place
and gave him the name that is above every name,
10that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow,
in heaven and on earth and under the earth,
11and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord,
to the glory of God the Father.

Conclusion: The name of God is Jesus, which means in Hebrew, the one who saves or Yeshua.
