tv shows don't run every single week. There are always off weeks, and especially on the big networks, they are pre-empted for big sporting events and other random things. They can't shoot episodes fast enough to run one each week. Most seasons have around 22 episodes. There are 52 weeks in a year, they take the summer off, so do the math, there will be a few weeks without a show.

Most television shows weren't scheduled for this week for a couple of reasons...
1. They had to show The Great Pumpkin and
2. The World Series was scheduled for this week IF it had went more than 4 games.

any show that is based an a cheesy commercial is going to get canceled.
