Your question is way to vague. Our prisons have atheists as well as christians in them, so I certainly would not want to be with one of them on a desert island. If your talking about the devout christians and atheists, who debate so intensely in R&S. I guess I would be safer with an Athiest, than an extremely fundamentalist christian.

I think a Christian. I am not a Christian but I have read of many studies where prayer has seen to be very effective. I feel it isn't important who the person is praying to, because it is the intent in the pray that makes the difference. So, the Christian would pray and I feel that would be beneficial.

1. Depends on the person--religion is secondary. There are bad atheists and bad Christians. I'd rather have a good specimen of either.
2. Same as above.

1 atheist farmer
2. Also atheist. Especially if that person is a physician. I don't want anyone who is half-committed to the science of medicine.

How did you get to be "top contributor" with questions like this?
If I was stranded on an island I think I'd be grateful to have someone to talk to. Call me petty but I don't think that their religion would be foremost on my mind.

I don't judge people by their labels, but by their character and how they treat others, so I guess my answer doesn't count.
I've encountered those of both groups who were very closed-minded and defensive, and also those from both with whom I would enjoy having some deep discussions over coffee. This Q doesn't give enough info to make a good decision.
