Not necessarily. Remember the old adage, "Power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely." That position can and has lead to many corrupt Sheriffs over the years. Not to tarnish the reputation of those who faithfully serve, but the position of Sheriff leads weaker souls to omnipotence.

Unfortunately there are bad apples in every bunch and a few do make it past all the screening and get the badge only to discredit the rest.

You have to remember the position of "Sheriff" is that of a political position and elected by the voters!

As for the deputies...they are hired after completion of state police academy training (POST).

I work for a sheriff's department and would challenge any taker to test my standards of honesty and integrity anytime, any place, or under any circumstance!

No. It proves that there is an ACCUSATION of corruption against ONE person.

I guess that "innocent until proven guilty in a court of law" thing can just go out the window as far as you are concerned if it's a cop being accused.

Way to be consistent.

Your axe is plenty sharp already. Find someplace else to grind it.
