I disagree with the figures you have been given. I use a Pentax *ist DS DSLR which is roughly a 6 megapixel camera. I currently have an empty 512mp card in the camera, reformatted ready to take shots, that is showing 165 exposure available. So, I should get (roughly) 320 on a 1GB card. You will get less with a bigger megapixel camera. Say about 250. (My camera is set to take JPGs on 'best' setting) The actual number does, of course, depend on the setting and whether you take JPG or RAW images.

I have a 1GB card and at 4 megapixels it can store about 900 photos. The number of photos you can take depends on what quality setting you have your camera on (if it is at 8.1 mp it will be about 450 or so, I believe).

If there are vacant slots for particular quantities of memory then which ability the motherboard is designed to function on the predicted velocity of the mixed volume of memory. case in point, in case you have 4 vacant slots and that they've been designed for the two 512MB or 1GB each and each slot. meaning, the motherboard is predicted to function at 2048MB or 4GB tops that's the minimize. when you consider that 2GB is extra advantageous than sufficient of RAM then you certainly could desire to discard the two 512MB memory sticks. counting on you working equipment (no count if that's Vista or XP), 2GB is already previous the golden aim which grew to become into 512MB. no count how lots multi-tasking you do and how lots 3-d outcomes your laptop performs, i'm particular that memory intake does no longer exceed 1GB yet. and that's each little thing from multi-tasking to 3-d outcomes. the relax 1GB isn't something.
