Why won't they accept there are people out in the world that are different to them?

Why not stop these wars in Gods name and let people live in peace?

All these wars are to do with God and religious beliefs so you cannot deny it.

Accept people for who they really are and people might start to respect you it is not too much to ask is it?

Please be kind with your response please.

I like some of the answers here, they seem to gel with my point of view. The problem is the Christian Extremists (and you know who you are Jesussaves or whatever your handle is this week), who cannot accept that there is another point of view from their own.

It's not only Christians who have this problem, but EVERY religion in the world has some form of maniac trying to usurp religion for their own twisted reasons, I am however baffled at the so called educated people who jump on this cult band wagon and want to push their views down my throat without listening to one word of rebuttal.

So to all you Extremists out there go play in the street while the real adults sort out the worlds problems that you have created.

Well gotta disagree with the wars statement. Most wars are for money or some other good that will make people money...God is just a nice handy excuse....but most now are for "freedom" or "liberation" or "Human Rights".

Anyway there are lots of religious people that are very accepting but they do not respond to these things because they are not drawn to the controversy.

Point taken though for the other ones who use religion as a club...it is to cover a lack of faith on their part.....and I don't think they have figured out they would have more luck with conversions if they left people alone.

jesussaves> OK but you should start with the animals since they cannot read

Religion is about control and the best way to control people is by fear. If everyone understood that, we would really understand that all God wants is that we love each other. I think that a common comment that God makes when you come to judgments is " YOU DID WHAT IN MY NAME". Hard to answer that one. Muslim religious leaders sent a letter to the pope and the bishop of Canterbury asking for a conference where they could look at the similarities in the Koran and the bible. In the teachings of Jesus and Mohamed. There is a common ground in that the real message is love thy neighbor. BUT the news media and the religious of at least this country thinks that it is a threat. When will we learn. Maybe it will take a 4th or 20th or 100th trip by God to straighten things out again.
It makes no difference as to the name of the God, since love is the real God of all in the world. ~ Apache –

OK, I'm a religious person, and I accept that there are people out there who are different from me. Some of them I find interesting; others I don't.

As far as me stopping a war, I'm not at all sure how to do that.

Hmmm. I don't agree with your statement that "all these wars" are over religion. I think wars are better understood as a struggle for power and control and natural resources (such as oil).

The last question: no, it's not to much to ask. I hereby accept you for who you really are.

Some do. Some don't. Some religious people are tolerant but when another religious group starts a war against them, of course they're going to fight back.
I'm religious, but I accept the right of other's to have different opinions. It would be nice if they extended me the same courtesy. You know how nice it feels to have someone say, 'Oh, you're a Christian. So you're a gay hater who believes in killing gynos"?
I'm suggest if you want to preach religious people tolerating others, you should start tolerating religious people.

Find me a war that is only about religion and I will come up with an answer for you. Even when religion is named as a reason for war it is only used as a cover for the real reasons of power and greed. So if you can find me a purely religious war then I will give you a real answer otherwise the question is based on a false pretense.

I, too, think this is an oversimplification--most "true" followers of religions are poor and powerless; and these are not the people who start wars. They're started by those who already have power, and want more--and the religion is just added as a "frosting" to make the poor masses swallow the fact that it is their sons who will be dying to cement the power of their rulers.

Naw man... the god angle is just a matter of marketing. The real war starters just use god to sell their money making schemes to an ignorant populous. Sad thing is they buy it every time.

You are an idealist. The problem is that we have to live in reality and the reality of this world is that there are those in control who do not want to live in peace and have the power to do as they please. How would you get someone to accept others for whom they are if they do not want to do so? Would make them?

darling I agree with your sentiments
however
I believe religion is just a facade for the real reasons for war etc
it is power and money
if there were no religions or if religions made peace
then those wishing power would only find something else to fight about
