EWWWW, think long, think hard. Whatever you do do not consumate. Besides the legality of the issue, his maturity level is that of a 17 yr old boy, the gender that also matures slower. Even though physically he may be manly, and you may be completely infatuated, just think what he could be in a few years if given the opportunity to be his age and grow up in time.

Well, we are talking dating at this point - not marriage or co-habiting, and it really depends on the individuals. Society generally dictates that when there's an age difference, it should be the male that's the elder. This is because girls are usually more emotionally mature that boys of the same age, but this isn't always so and some young men can be pretty mature at 17, whilst others still aren't mature at 30!. If they enjoy each other's company, then they shouldn't worry what others think - nobody can live their lives for them. In the UK, 16 is the age of consent, but why does everyone assume they're going to have sex! If they've only just met they will hopefully let their relationship progress and will get to know each other properly first. (By which time he may be 18!).

That's odd usually the Guy is older. But, because he is younger then the girl, the girl has to make sure he is ready for a relationship with an older girl. The girl has to be concerned about the guy more then herself here as he is younger. And like everyone said already the couple should make sure the country they live in has a age restriction which allows the relationship to continue. Otherwise, if the guy age is too young then the girl is responsible for anything that happens in the relationship which is inappropriate for the guy's age.

You might get mixed reactions from other people but if yours and his loved ones don't judge then don't care what other people thinks. Theres only a 4 year age gap but even though there will be some differences in the age. This is because many things aren't llegal until after 18 of years so he has some restrictions in his age.

I am thinking no and here is why. First of all he is under age and it would be against the law. Second 21 to 17 is a big age gap at this stage in life. I would hate to see the 17 year old make a hasty sex driven decsion and then regret it a few years later. Thirdly I think that a person (man or woman) who is 21 and wants to be in a "relationship" with a 17 year old needs to grow up themselves. Leave the kids alone, they have enough to sort out. They don't need confused adults mixing the already steaming pot of emotions and hormones. I think equal dating among adults begins at age 21. By then everyone is leagal and hopefully have the ability to predict the consequences of their actions.

whern i 1st saw the question i thought it was a 21 year old guy and a 17 year old girl and i was like oh God no way, but hey it must be doule standards coz when the girl is 21 i doesn't seem that bad.
i think at 17 a guy can be really immature, you have to ask yourself what do u really have in common with a 17 year old and visa versa.
Don't worry too much what other people think. your not breaking any laws just don't take him out drinking with you.

As Long as the 17 year old loves the 21 year old as much as the 21 love the 17 year old.

well personally if i was 21 theres no way i wud date a guy 17, i think it's also to do with the fact about the woman being older, men take longer to mature thats why i prefer older men, but if u get on with him then go for it, but don't expect anything serious of long term cos he is only 17.

If you have sex with him YOU WILL GO TO JAIL. You will also have to register as a sex offender for the rest of your life and you will never find a job.I'm sure you like the guy but wait until he is 18 and then you can anything you want.Things have changed since I was young.I dated a 19 year old woman when I was 12.My first sex was with my Female art teacher she was in her 30's and I was 9,but life has changed.Wait a little while then be happy.Good luck.

"age aint nothin' but a number" im dating a younger guy, about the same age difference, and as long as you are on the same maturity level, why not? we both have the hearts of 13 year olds, so it goes along quite well. it doesnt matter what the age is, so long as they love eachother. i know plenty of people who have had sucessful relationships and marriages with the female being older. you would be surprised, ask around, lots of people do it.
