Do you know any pages or any software to download to make the 40GB Playstation 3 model play ps2 games???
PLEASE no answers like the following:
- 40gb doesnt play ps2 games only the 60/80gb
- you cant play ps2 games on it
- just use your original ps2
- exchange it for the 60/80gb version (i dont wanna!)
- download software (duh!!! ... dats my question!!!)

As far as I know, there is nothing like that. Just checked www.qj.net and www.famitsu.com - nothing came out. That's probably because Sony removed last remaining PS2 chip from PS3. NTSC 60GB and NTSC 20GB have two PS2 chips - Emotion Engine (PS2 CPU) and Graphics Synthesizer (PS2 GPU) - more than 90-95% of PS2 games run on them. 80GB and all PAL versions have no EE, but they have GS, less PS2 games can be played on those ones (around 80%). 40GB doesn't have any of those chips - I don't think it's possible to run PS2 games on PS3 without GS chip.

I am not really sure to be honest. I know that in the UK the PS3 has to be updated to be able to play PS2 games. But you might be better off contacting the plays you bought it for secure info or even Sony's website. Sorry I couldn't provide a website. Hope you get it to play and enjoy PS2 game soon.

theres nothing in it to make the 40gb to have back-comp. thats like asking, hey how can i download the software on ps2 to play ps3 games? which you cant
