To "uncover someone's nakedness" is a Biblical euphemism for sexual love. It occurs throughout the Bible [for example Lev. 18:6-19; Lev. 20:11,Lev. 20:17-21; Ezek. 16:36-37; Ezek 23:10; Hab. 2:15], and there is no other credible way of interpreting 1Samuel 20:30.
The relationship between David and Jonathan described in 1Samuel is unequivocably homoerotic.
And yeah, it's nice the Bible has stories about love - in its many human manifestations.
Biblical literalist homphobes need to get over it.

much of what you quote is taken out of text. You are correct that we live in a homophobic society here in the US.But ancient Israel was another story. Even today men are free to kiss each other, instead of shaking hands and is hardly homosexual in nature.
We ask Why did Jonathan give his clothes to David? After David killed Goliath, Jonathan Gave David his clothes and sword and bow and belt as proper apparel..Nowhere does it say Saul was angered by Jonathan's homosexual affair, These are your words.
Saul was Jealous of David and told Jonathan that he would never be King while David lived.
I believe you're reading too much into this and your misquote , I found offensive.

Any body knows the love established between Jonathan and David, a man of ripe age (42-46 y.o.) and a boy who just left childhood (13-16 y.o.)…
"3 And Jonathan made alliance with David, because he liked it like his heart. -- 4 And Jonathan took off the coat which it carried and was given it to David, with his clothing, even to his sword, his arc, and his cross-belt (Samuel 1-18)
This famous love which makes that nowadays, the simple association of these two names evicates associations of homosexual believers..
When Jonathan died, David wrote
"O nobility of Israel! Those which were killed are on your high places...
How Jonathan was killed on these high places!
Jonathan my brother! I am in the anguish for the love of you
You gave all my pleasure the love which I had for you was taller than that that one has for the women..."
The one who does not trust the homosexual relations between this 2 men does not deserve the right to tell himself a believer.

It is a shame when pure unadulterated friendship between people is so shamelessly used to promote your licentious ideas.
This is why today it has become nearly impossible for friends, females or males, to openly display affection toward one another.
Do you not know how severe the penalty was for homosexuality in Israel? You are blaspheming the Bible, God's Holy Word, David and Jonathan's precious memories.
May God punish you for this blasphemy. You may be assured that he has taken notice of this!

This is not an example of some homoerotic love story; it is about friendship like that of brothers. It is possible to love someone of the same sex without it being sexual. By picking a version written in old English you have deliberately chosen to misconstrue what the words mean. Try to read things in context before jumping to rash conclusions.

As a Gay Christian - I too like to imagine sometimes that David and Jonathan were lovers.
More likely - they loved each other like brothers.
Nice try.

But where is the mention of homosexuality. Every expression of love has to include sexuality?
I think that soldiers banded together in combat wouldn't express it that way, but their love for each other would exceed their love for a woman.
It was common practice in Biblical times to kiss.
The passing of the garments was symbolic of the acknowledgment of the rightful kingship.

I am not sure that David and Jonathan were homosexual, but it is nice to know that the bible can show men loving each other in spite of the prejudices of the community.

Yes, I have heard the theory that this may have been a gay relationship, if not on David's part then maybe Jonothan. There are books written about this theory. They could have just been friends, that's my understanding of it, but I guess you could at least make an arguement either way.

I think you would fall under 2 Timothy 3:3 "having no natural affection..."
I guess in this system of things, we don't know what a True friend feels like, and automatically label it 'gay'.
