Depends on how you do it, and where you're piercing.

I assume that you are piercing your lobes...and no, it doesn't hurt. Maybe a quick pinch, and that's the end of it. Not as painful as poking your finger with a tack, if that's any measure.

You'll see people getting it done flinch generally because of the piercing gun that they use at places like Claires and Afterthoughts. The sound is LOUD (being right next to your ear)...and that's why a lot of young children cry (shock, not pain) when they get them done.

My only recommendation is when the piercer tells you to hold still, do so. Do NOT jerk your head away when that sound goes off, as something could snag and it just wouldn't be pretty. Hold your head still, close your eyes if you want, and just relax. It does not hurt.

it doesn't exactly hurt, the click of the gun is what most people are afraid of. once the stud has pierced your ear the pain is over really, you'll be left with a stinging sensation, and possibly they may feel like they are throbbing. Warm water on a cotton wool pad works to help calm, and bathe them in a cleansing solution twice a day. you should be supplied with this where you have them pierced. ask before you have them done if they charge extra for ear care solution, if they do, go somewhere else.

It depends on which part of the ear you get the piercing in. I just got more piercings in my lower earlobes and its doesn't hurt at all. Just a small poke is what it feels like.

Now, if you get a piecing in the upper, solid part of your ear, it's probably gonna hurt a lot but it'll be over in a flash and after six to eight weeks, it will be healed.

Remember: life's not worth living if you don't take risks. :)

no not at all, it pinches for a second and as long as you look after the piercing it's fine, i even pierced my own ears before, i have it done three times in each ear and one in my tongue, when its healing it will be a bit sore twisting the piercing, as you should do every day so the hole doesnt close over the earing, make sure you have your parents permission first

It stings when it's done, then your ears feel like they're burning for a few hours.

Worth every second!

Leave the piercing studs in for at least the time recommended and you shouldn't have any problems.

My sisters both couldn't wait and changed to earrings early and they are both hypersensitive to cheap stuff. I left my studs in for MONTHS... and I can wear the cheapest nastiest tat I can find without any problems.

Not saying it is definitely because I stuck with the studs - but it makes you wonder.

Hey, I got my 2nd earring hole yesterday. It pinches for at most 30 seconds ((on each ear)) and it might sting afterwards but it's not bad enough to cry over. But if your getting anything other than just on your ear you should research it. For instance a cartiladge piercing is on the ear but takes alot more time to heal.

No. It is worse afterwards when you try to put the earrings in for the first time. You cannot find the hole. Take care after the piercing as it could go septic. Needs twice daily bathing with antiseptic.

Not really.. its like a firm pinch really. The 'gun' that they use will make a noise that sounds scarier than it is when they pierce the ear. Your ears will throb slightly after but thats all.. and that will only last for an hour or so. Just make sure that you look after the holes and remember to clean them properly with stuff that the people doing it recommends.

Good luck!

I had my ears pierced when I was 18 (I'm 52 now); it literally didn't hurt at all, it was so quick. I expected it to hurt, but all I felt was a quick bit of pressure, and it was done. No pain whatsoever.
