Pasta is common in Italy because it's cheap. Well, it was. They've been boycotting pasta because the price increased drastically. It's also easy to prepare. AND DELICIOUS!

Asian people eat a lot of rice.

HIspanic people "barbeque" goats...

Food choices and cultural heritage are very closely related.

Italians learned about pasta from their trade with China. It may have once been a symbol of the wealth involved with the China trade routes (almost a thousand years ago, I 'd wager...)

Because they know how to cook it properly - staple food. Why do the British eat so much bread and the Chinese so much rice!
