well, let me update u with my location. i live in pakistan which is a torrid country especially in my city where climate is dry and dusty and in summer temperature goes upto 50+ C so in winter it ain't that cold and winter just last here for 2-3 months. And money ain't no problem while going for carpet or tiles or expensive rugs but thing is that i like carpet and you can actually sit anywhere on carpet and i didn't wanted to go for furniture but in case i go for tiles then i will definately go for furniture.

Lived in half a dozen houses with air and carpet. Never a problem.

I guess this would probably depend on where you live. I'm in Florida. My son has allergies. We have 2 dogs and a cat, plus acreage with horses. So... we yanked up all the carpet and put tile down throughout the hosue. My son, 2 1/2 at the time, had barely been able to sleep through the night because of his stuffy nose during March and April every year. After taking out the carpet and putting tile down, the evidence of his allergies is a slightly runny nose.

We're in the flooring business and we often tell people about carpet - you put it in by the yard and take it out by the pound. It collects, not only dust mites, but dust, hair, sand, dirt, anything that can get into it and fall through to the padding underneath. Really, when I pull carpet up in someone's house, they are invariably disgusted by what's in and underneath it. Believe me, even vacuuming with a shop-vac will not get carpet clean.

Go with anything but carpet. If you're worried about cold feet, get an area rug and slippers. It'll be much better for your health in the long run, and you'll probably end up replacing the carpet sooner than later anyway.

I don't know what sort of problems that it will cause when you use your AC, but I would not put carpet into the bedroom as it collects dust mites etc.
If you want just put a shag pile rug on the floor. It then can be taken outside to be aired and cleaned and dried if required.
Just make sure you check the cleaning instructions before you purchase
You will be looking around $800.00 to $1000.00 for a good quality rug or maybe more

That's a tall tale if I've ever heard one. Apparently your mom just doesn't want to pay for carpet as just about everyone has carpet and air conditioning throughout their homes.

OMG go with carpet. Can you imagine going to the bathroom in the middle of the night and walking on cold tile in your bare feet? Brrrrr.
