for fanfic purposes... i never really thought about it. While you're at it... do British boarding schools normally have classes on saturdays?

No idea about Hogwarts. If it's not on the page, then who knows?

British boarding schools *used* to have lessons on Saturday mornings. Some still do, in the form of sports activities or additional help/extra curricular classes.

No they don't (Hogwarts)
Hermione would spend Saturday mainly studying, Harry and Ron playing Quidditch, the three of them visiting Hagrid, going to Hogsmeade, etc. So no, no classes. Just relaxing and doing homework and stuff.
Hope this helps :) as for the British boarding schools..i have no idea, sorry!!
Take care x

I think British boarding schools have some classes on Saturdays, but I always thought Hogwarts students had the weekend free... then HP and co. could use the Marauder's map to roam around, they could visit Hagrid, they could go to town and have one of those funny beers, practice in HP's army, etc. etc. I think that is so-- don't recall Saturday classes for them!

I don't ever remember Saturday classes mentioned in any of the books, FWIW.
