I'm British, and I'm definitely poor.
I don't know where you get that idea from, as most Brits are working class.

I wonder if you have heard British people saying they have a rich heritage or a rich culture. It is not true that theirs is any better than anyone else's but more documented evidence is available in UK than SOME other cultures. Other than that, I don't know why a British person would clal themselves rich, unless, as someeone said, in comparison to someone who is materially poor, but I would hope it would not be said in a superior way .. and I'm not British.

Nothing like a decent generalisation to start the day eh.

Unless of course this is a club or abbreviation for something I am unaware of, I am British and would never say I am rich in locally relative terms ... relative to those left high and dry from New Orleans (abandoned by the richest country in the world), or those struggling to find food and water in Africa etc. .... then sure, I'm rich. (But this is NOT said in a superior manner, just a factual one through geography)

What on earth are you talking about??? That's a bit of a sweeping statement of sorts isn't it? I don't know any Brits who all describe themselves a RICH, how many do you actually know anyway...
People who are really rich do not go around bragging about it or talking about it for that matter. You make it sound as if we all go about telling all and sudry about our financial situation willy-nilly...We don't do that thank you very much.

well I live in Britain and I'm not rich. I don't know anyone who is rich, Except for the captain of my towns local second rugby team, and he's not rich, just well off as he works for IBM.

Trust me, I don't know any british people who claim they're rich.

No working class "Brit" would say they are rich and now thanks to Labour the divide between the higher and lower classes are higher than ever!!

Labour for the working class if it wasn't such a serious thing that would be funny

Perhaps you have missheard them saying "Healthy" and took them to mean "Wealthy".

I wish I were the latter as well as the former!
