I guess "Good, old" to me would be the culture, discipline, simplicity and naiveity....which we hardly come across nowadays. It's too much of negative influence (that's when it comes to the people), And when it comes to the environment, it's not pretty as the old times when it used to be more nature and less pollution. Now it's the other way round. We're destroying God's original creation and changing ourselves just for the sake of setting a trend, which really doesnt make sense. Everything is complicated now and we have enough reasons to think the old days were "Good, ol'".

I was born a baby boomer. I think my generation was probably the last to actually experience "the good ole' days". Yes things were easier, things were slower then. Mom was genuinely Mrs Cleaver. No body really questioned the government. So they had their way with us, as did the church. Well, we boomers decided to pull our heads out of the sand. And take a good look around. We didn't like what we saw. So blame the tumultuous 60's on us. You know as well as we what was really going on. ( you being the govt ). If it were not for us long haired hippie freaks, pot smokin , acid trippin, rock-n-rolling idiots, we would still be running from the likes of McCarthy, black people would still be forced to the rear of the bus. I think that was the turning point.
And let me tell you...The Good Ole Days was a wolf in sheep's clothing and sometimes in just plain white sheets....cuz along with the good ole days came the GOOD OLE BOYS ...........Safe for Who?????

The 'Good Old Days' have always been seen as better by some people. I once read of an Elizabethan (16th Century) who complained that people of his day had less respect for their elders, were lazy and self indulgent compared with when he was a lad.
The Romans of Imperial times looked back to the Republic as the 'Good Old Days'.
As Douglas Adams said 'When men were real men, women were real women and small green furry creatures from Alpha Centauri were real small green furry creatures from Alpha Centauri'
I suspect it's mainly about people growing old and grumpy!

Rose colored glasses make them "good". A scratch from a rusty nail could kill you with blood poisoning, polio killed you, childbirth was often a death sentence (why men would have more than one wife), large families as children died in droves from anything and everything, you were old and worn out at age 40 or younger, people worked themselves to death. The only thing unchanged is that the politicians still lied to us, cheated us and screwed us over every chance they got.

The "good ol' days" weren't all that good. Miserable even in some respect. But nostalgia of youth makes them "Good".

I have fair idea of my life during 60s and 70s.
Good aspects were......
Absolute security to life. Bombings and mass murders were unheard of.
simple and Principled living by majority of people.
Less pollution .
Today's life is modern, fast and less secure.
Good or bad ..change is inevitable

I grew up in the early to mid 1960's. You didn't have to have metal detectors in schools, airports, or courthouses. You didn't have two FULL GROWN GENERATIONS OF WELFARE RECIPIENTS, widespread drugs, or gangs. You didn't have to "press #one for English".
