Go into any large newsagent or bookshop and get a copy of the Good Food Guide. This lists hundreds of good restaurants in all suburbs and all price ranges that are recommended by the panel at the Sydney Morning Herald. Otherwise just stroll up King St Newtown and pick any restaurant that takes your fancy. There are dozens to choose from.

Go into any pub in Darlinghurst, Surry Hills, Glebe, Newtown, Paddington and get the free newspapers which tell you about all the clubs, gigs and everything else you want to know about nightlife. Check out Manning Bar at Sydney University for more information.

Look at the What's on in Sydney web site at http://www.whatsoninsydney.com.au for information about all sorts of stuff
