It's round about the time for my period, and I've got my usual PMS symptoms: a little bloated, salt & red wine cravings, some precursor cramps, etc. However, all I'm getting is lots of mucus and some streaking that looks like the old blood I usually associate with the end of my period. I'm 37 years old and have never experienced problems like this before -- it's very unlikely my husband and I have managed a pregnancy -- we hardly even managed to see each other this month!
Thanks.

Well, you are already doing the most important thing (obviously) by making an appointment with your doctor about this. The brown blood wouldn't be too worrying as lots of women sometimes get the 'old' blood at the beginning of a period, but the mucus could be something. Could you have an infection? Is there any discomfort (besides what you describe as your normal period routine)?

Our periods can also change every so many years (the body itself goes thru changes every 7 years) by becoming heavier or lighter. It is normal for some women to have brown spotting (old blood) at the beginning of their period as well.

I would recommend checking with your doctor as well to see what they say.

check any changes out with your doc it could be as simple as the heat and your hydration level or you may need a professional clean out or curette. this is your womanhood why would you not have already seen the doc or at very least asked chemist for thoughts on topic

See a doctor. Your body is doing something different so get it checked out.

It only take a few second to get pregnant honey! You need to take a pregnancy test!
