I am intersted in finding out who built the house I grew up in. Is anyone aware of any resources that would put me in the right direction?

Go to the Oracle, she will direct you to the Key Maker, he will bring you to the Architect.

If that doesn't work check out your city or town hall.

I would first check with your neighbors to see if there is an "old-timer" who happens to recall who built your home. In many cases, a builder will build many different homes in the same neighborhood and it is possible that someone still remembers who built your house.

If this doesn't work, I would next try to research the real estate records at your city or county courthouse. If you know approximately what year the home was built, this will make your search easier.

In most locations copies of plans and blueprints have to be filed to secure a building permit. These are typically retained permanently. If your jurisdiction works this way, the architect's name would almost certainly be on the plans.
