Man, I can't believe the hatred these people feel towards President Bush.
Like every president, he has done some good things and some bad, had some successes and some failures. He is not stupid or evil, although he may be too easily influenced by Cheney and the rest. And he does have trouble with the English language sometimes.
If I woke up as President Bush, I think I'd try to make a deal with Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi, so that something might actually get done in this country.

(A message to Rick K above...Hey! Look, good buddie! None of us hate "the person..." All of the above people were simply expressing their very passionate displeasure at his foreign and domestic political policies with sarcastic and sardonic humor...they are making their point with "black humor..." not "hatred..." We all know you can't "really" hate someone you've never met...(with some relatively few exceptions...)
But back to the question...
Balance the budget, call it a "draw" and bring our soldiers home, fix Social Security, figure out a way to stop the spread of nuclear weaponry that doesn't involve starting a war somewhere, get Health Care for everyone, let illegal immigrants become citizens the minute they establish a reasonable residency time period, and their kids are going to school here, take away tax breaks for religious organizations (the original reason for those tax breaks no longer exists), have "flat" income tax for everyone (everyone pays the same percentage "chunkola" out of their paychecks and other such sources of income, legalize the "personal growing of blankity blank, yet still make it illegal to buy or sell, just give individuals the freedom to "grow it" themselves, and within a short time...there would be no need for anyone to buy or sell it, and blah blah blah all the other reasons why we should "salute" the "indicus" part of nature...
(I would do much more than that, regarding that topic...but...
...baby steps, people...baby steps...)
..And I would fix the election campaign system, the homeless situation, the child-care system, the senior citizen care system, etc etc etc...
And make Newt Gingrich my personal cabana boy, and forbid him to ever enter the realm of politics again...
And publically humiliate Rush Limbaugh for being such a hypocritical namby pamby finger-pointing jerk for so many years, because his fat brain thinks it would be a good idea to bring us back to a "McCarthy" era mentality, and punish severely anybody doing non-violent drug crimes except him, of course, 'cause he needs his "prescription violation" pain medication for his back, which is being systematically destroyed by the sheer weight of his ego...
That's what I would do...
All in one day...

2 things, actually. apologise for how badly I've treated every issue and every American, and then step down, and let someone with some real integreity lead the country. too bad he died of Alzhiemers. I think Reagen is the only man who would have a chance in hell of fixing anything now.
