I sincerely doubt that he will run for the Presidency in 2008. Though he has received numerous accolades, and the most prestigious one in the world, his bid for the candidacy would be coming a bit too late. Many other Democrats, such as Hillary and Obama, have such a head start, that he will be in a race just to catch up with them just in terms of garnering enough campaign financing. As we all know, campaign financing can make or break a campaign, no matter how likable a candidate is, or how well received his ideas are.
Furthermore, for him to enter the Presidential race, this late in the game, will not sit to well with many voters, who will view it as a sign of timidity. I can just see the conservative pundits roast Gore for not entering in the race early, waiting instead to see if he was popular enough to run. They will use this point, to deprecate him, the way they did in the 2000 election, as one who is dictated by which way the wind blows.
Thirdly, he probably will not run because his outspokenness concerning global warming could cost him the election, even if he was a shoe in for the Democratic Presidential nomination. This is ironic, since he praised the world over for his work in bring this issue to light, and yet his greatest strength, and biggest bragging right, is seen as a liability in the conservative heartland. The predominately conservative Middle America, has been duped into believing, by a very deft propaganda campaign formulated by corporations, that global warming is a scam, and it is a form of deception that could cost them their jobs, and could cause higher taxes. Hence, Al Gore’s vocal stance on this issue will work towards his detriment.
Finally, I think Al Gore himself, at least from what I can gather from his interviews, seems disgusted with the political process. If anyone has the right to feel some disdain towards the political process, Al Gore certainly does. He tried to bring greater awareness to the environment as Senator, and then as Vice President, and it fell on deaf ears, because corporate special interest, trumped the environment. He tried to pursue the highest office in the land, only to have the election, which he rightfully won, stolen from him through some dubious dealings in single state, which happened to be helmed by the opposition’s brother. Gore has found that the political process in this country is so corrupt, and so beholden to big business, that the best way he can bring light to such a seminal issue as global warming, is to work as a civilian. I for one agree with his decision.

I Agree - As a chip off the ol' Chippendale, I want Owl Gore to run for President. Owl Gore (Inventor of the Internet and Global Warming, has much more Hot live chat and B.S. to offer than Hillary Care, Boring Rock Obama and Danny Glover/Edwards.

He won the nobel peace prize for being a demogog and a socialist. He has the same thing stopping him from becoming the Dem nominee, someone named Clinton. Forrest Gore will have to wait his turn.

I hope not.
I lost respect for the Nobel Peace Prize when the Arafat, the puppet, won.

He wasn't right about everything. He hasn't been right about anything. That Prize was given as nothing other than a political statement that the presenters erroneously felt they were entitled to make.
Anyway, he couldn't bear to run again because he couldn't bear to stand at the podium crying after losing again.
The man is not capable of handling it.

- Many of the "facts" in his movie have been debunked as alarmist and some are just plain false.
- The Nobel Peace prize is a joke and has been for a long time
- I just have no comment on that last one.

I don't think the word run or walk is in Mr. Leer Jet's vocabulary.
He has as much personality as a fence post, and just because his mindless minions believe his crap is true doesn't make it so.

He was right about what exactly?
Let me guess, he was right when he told us that we live in houses that are too big and use too much energy while he owns multiple mansions that burn more energy than ten average houses do in a year?
Or he was right about us driving hybrid cars while he flies around in private jets and then gets driven around in armor plated limos?
That being said, I wouldn't count him out yet. The Hildabeast said she wasn't going to run many times, and now we have to listen to her socialist ideas for the country.

Kristen F - the only "inaccuracies" in his movie referred to possible effects of GW- not to the cause. The continued efforts of the denialists on the extreme right to cast doubt on the climate change issue is really quite ridiculous. Bush himself has accepted this reality, as have the leading Republican candidates - consistently trying to marginalize yourselves by pretending the accepted scientific theory is a scam is ridiculous.
As for the question - Gore has said he has no intention to run - but independent polls have demonstrated he would be a candidate to reckon with if he were to run.
If you support him and want him to run - let him know.
