Look, i'm sorry for having another question about the pats... not a fan, and actually kinda sick of all the hype, and talk surrounding them. But reguardless, this is a serious question. The way they've been playing, going for it no holds bar whether their up or not, scoring like crazy every chance they get... will it change the way teams play? Do you think running in the second half will be a thing of the past? Will teams be less reluctant from now on? Or will they adbide to the ethics of old? Ok... ok... i know most of you will say: The pats are the best and their doing what no team has ever been able to do... blah, blah, blah. But the truth is that every team in the history of football when up (esp by 42) will slow down by running or putting in their second string.

I don't think that it can change the way teams play, because the whole thing, i.e. the Patriots' playing method is possible mainly due to talent, talent, and again talent, of their specific players.
In order to be able to play like that one needs the ice temper of Tom Brady in the QB, the soft hands and acrobatic ability of Randy Moss in the WR, etc.
I don't think we'll find such a concentration of talent in a team in years.

One theory I have heard hold the Patriots are doing this because they are mad at the league for the whole "spy gate" thing.

I've heard the arguement, this isn't high school or college and if you don't want them running up the score, stop them. On teh surface that is a good theory. But, come on. I can equally say, if you are a professional, act like one. heck, in college, people look at the point differential in determining rankings, so you are more justified doing it there.

I think the Patriots are opening themselves up to a lot of payback. It might be hard to do this year, but the day will come when the tables are turned. Not only will some team run up the score, but how about a team that has them beat, continues with their first team defense and keep blitizing?

What I would love to see is the Colts have the Pats down,by at least 9, have the ball in FG range, call a timeout with one second to go in the game and kick a fg.

This is simple to answer. The Patriots were accused of something and the NFL brass, coaches, players, fans, all turned on the Patriots. The fact of the matter is, something stunk in the kitchen and Belichek took the heat for it. You don't put a cameraman on the opposing sideline to videotape the opposition at there field if you know it's wrong, it's suicide. So if you ask me, there is more to it than we all know. Regardless, the league treated the Patriots like they were the scum of the earth, trying to take away superbowl crediblity. The bottom line is, WE, and I say we, because I mean you and me and all of the other fans that talked trash, pissed them off, and the more they get talked about negatively in the media, the more they will destroy teams. We don't get it, the media doesn't get it. The Patriots will continue to demolish teams until they get some respect.

the pats are playing a spread offense similar to what you see in college. it is a system not so much based on reading progressions but on match-ups, ie plays are designed with an emphasis on getting one man (a receiver of course) in a mismatch and getting him the ball. of course there are other options but the plays are usually designed for a specific receiver. which is Why you see moss dominate one week, wes another and stallworth in a different week.

spread offenses only work if you have the talent to make them work. and not that many teams have talented quarterbacks or offensive lineman.

i think the pats are sending a message to the rest of the league. their big win over the redskins was intentional. they were showing the colts that they were unstoppable even against a redskin secondary that is considered one of the best in the league.

lookout colts.

i am from indianapolis indiana, now living in huntington beach ca. this game is going to take my memory back----back a long time ago when i was a teen growing up at home an ddad would take me an dmy brother to th esouthside armory to watch pro wrestling and the famous 'dick the brusier' , known then as the worlds most dangerous wrestler, he was kicked out of n.f.l. football for unnecessary brutality by eith the chicago bears or minn vikings. i somehow, see myself at home in the r.c.a. dome enjoying this game as if i was at a roman games watching gladiators fighting it out, yes, it will be physical, low scoring, lots of penalties and injuries. time to count the hours down as of now as it is less than four days away from the classic that will be watched around the world and from afganistan and iraq, so get your house in order if you have guests, get the big salad and trimmings, your beer and other things to drinks, your pizza an dsandwiches and enjoy the screaming,i hope i rate the ten,dan from socal

I think it's only a matter of time, before they change tactics, just to throw everyone off.... as long as their runningbacks are injured and recovering, expect to see the passing game.

As for someone taking a cheap shot, I highly doubt, that any professional player, would deliberately hurt another player. They know it could easily be them, and they would be fined, suspended and evern prosecuted, depending upon the nature of the injury, and how blatant the attack was.

As for "running up the score" it's up to the opponent, to stop them.... if they are incapable of doind that, they need to look to their coach, and say "how could we have defended differently" .. stop blaming the Patriots... the team on the losing side, was NOT DOING THEIR JOB.

This business of "unwritten rules"... the only enforcable rules, are written on paper, if you want a "mercy" rule in the NFL, you may as well take up watching pee wee football.

redskins secondary considered the best in the league? When did that happen? Only a redskins fan would say that.

I would agree with $.Kracker. Brady will get lit up, especially if he keeps going crazy after they score and they are up by 35.

The pats are playing with a chip on their shoulder. However it will only be a matter of time if they keep running up the score like they are doing before a guy goes for a cheep shot on Brady and ends his season. You can only disrespect people for so long no matter how good you are.

The Pats are playing like the world is against them...If you're that talented, you should...Besides, they are tired of all the crap they have gotten for the video crap...It was just one game, and Patriot haters suddenly want to question every game since Belichick has been coach, and the Super Bowls...Thats just stupid as hell...

As for the Colts, their undefeated season is about to end...

Honestly that is one of those unwritten rules that you don't run up the score. Belichek seems to think he is above the game and has turned them into a classless franchise.
