If the party has been organized such that food and drinks are pre-arranged, then just bring yourself and your wit (a list of party jokes would be useful, and you can review them in the bathroom when you can't remember your jokes as you get loaded with alcohol)

must know what kind of party.. if it is a party in a friend's house, I will bring a basket of fruits or a cake or my specialty to add on the table. If in a restaurant and there is no occasion, I won't bring anything.
