Can anyone tell me what this style of drawing is called? I have seen it before, but I can't find it when I look for it. From what I understand this style was used mostly as a tool for medieval propaganda. Heres a link to an example:

please tell me the style or just provide links to sites that have examples of this. Thanks!

Woodblock printing. It's a very interesting style, used by both Asian and Western cultures up until a few hundred years ago.

You could also use “engraving” as a search term.

EDIT: Sorry Vince, your description of the woodcut process is not accurate, what you describe would be the process for engravings on metal (normally) plates or etching. Woodcuts (and linocuts) use the raised portion to print (not the portion that has been cut out); etching and metal engraving use the portion that is cut (etched) out – narrow trenches hold ink while the excess is wiped off. Neither is similar to lithography which uses the properties of repulsion between oil and water.

I don't know about the style, but the technique is called a "woodcut."

The artist cut out the design into a block of wood. He would then roll ink onto the block and wipe the excess off. When the wood was pressed onto the paper, with a LOT of pressure, the ink would be squeezed out of the cuts and transfer onto the paper. Similar, in practice, to lithography.

The graphic technique is called wood engraving. The matrix is made by cutting around lines, then you make a graphic by applying printing-colour over the matrix and printing it.
