I use baby wipes, no alcohol formula. If its safe enough for my daughter's bottom, it is safe enough for the monitor. No problems in the past 15 years I have been using them.
Also- I live in a remote mountain city in SE Asia. We do have a hardware store but specialty items are rare.

all those specialist cleaner things are a waste of time and overpriced to boot. I had some "special non streak cleaning wipes" for my lcd monitor once, lets just say i've seen bacon less streaky.
Best bet? i'm not entirely sure, i'd say use something like a jay cloth or whatever you call them where your from, just wet one corner and LIGHTLY go over the monitor, then dry it off with the other side by sliding downwards, only way you get streaks doing that is if there's grease on the screen in which case just do the wet and wipe again.

Ive always used a anti static wipe, something like a drier sheet as this will not staticly charge your screen and freeze any of the pixels. If you want to clean it with a liquid you can go to Staples or Wal Mart and they have professional LCD cleaning supplies but I have always used a drier sheet with great success.....good luck!

Mystic Maid microfiber cloth is the best option and you can get at any supermarket. It its dirty with dust use it dry but if it has grease form fingers and such then dampen it and make sure its only slightly moist then clean away.

They make special cleaners for them. I have included a link for one. But really you could go to just about any electronics department and ask for an LCD Cleaner.

Clean it with soap and water only. Wipe the streaks with a clean rag, an old Hanes t-shirt will do.
