in my opinion, it should. i know we have been taught to write it upper case, but besides that, what is your opinion.

i know it suppose to be capitalized.
im not an idiot..
its just that it looks better lower case
i think its funny how i mention to people to not think of it in terms of what we are taught at school, but people still come with the proper reasoning of why it should be upper case

It is a pronoun for a proper name, but then again... so is "she, he, you, etc...

Who cares what they teach us... have fun flipping burgers is all I have to say. It's not really like it makes a big difference anyway. And as for me as just how it looks with "I" being upper or lower cased, I prefer it upper cased, because it looks better to me.

In the English language, you nominate yourself which is why "I" is capitalized and the "Y" in "you" is not. The reverse is true in German for example. You nominate others so the "S" in "Sie" ("you") is capitalized and the "I" in "ich" ("I") is not. (Unless it;s at the beginning of the sentence.)
It's simply how the English language works.
