How important is what other's think about you?

Should you be concerned about what other people think about you? If you don't think about what others think about you---are you arrogant or self-centered?

If you are confident in yourself, there is no need to be arrogant or concerned about what the majority of others think.

I have a few:

1. God - I need to worry about what He thinks as He is my director.
2. My partner - because she's important to me
3. My boss - because she signs my paycheck

Other than those few who directly impact my life, what value is there in worrying about what others think? Why would I worry about what you (others) think when I am the one that lives with the consequences of the choices I make?
Self-worth is an inside job.

I used not to give a damn what people thought of me, but I'm wasn't self centred, because I did care about people etc.
But I didn't let the pressure get to me, I suppose it was alot easier for me as I was a loner. But, I moved school recently, my mum and dad want me to make friends at this school, and I kinda don't want to be a loner again, so I'm feeling this great amount of pressure to make friends, therefore, I do care about what others think of me atm, but hopefully that will go soon.
Anyway, no, it doesn't mean you arrogant or self-centred if you don't care what people think of you.

Being a social animal,it's always important what others think about us and to project an appropriate image of ours and have good working relationship,we ensure that we do consider others views.So far so good but when we are overtly concerned about it or become totally couldn't careless about it,the situation gets distorted and may tend to show our arrogance and self cent redness.

People call me self centered but I dont mind. I have a very selective hearing and understanding.
I don't care what people think about me. But I do like having their feedback.
I actually care if what I think is the exact opposite.
