As a girl, I'm torn.
I do think it's mean to pull hair, but I used to use my ponytail as a weapon while playing basketball. My teammates jokingly referred to it as "the whip."
Maybe Polamalu can work something out to use his hair for an advantage? Maybe he should shave it and wear a wig, so if someone grabs it, it will just come off in his hands and he'll maybe miss the tackle. Hee hee.

I don't think their should be a rule about grabbing hair. Quite frankly, I think it's the player's fault for letting it get that long. I'm sure that there are some NFL teams out there that would agree with me when I say that the length of a player's hair has been rediculous lately. If a player's hair happens to be longer than what can fit in his helmet it should not cover any part of the name on the back of his jersey, and definitely not cover up his jersey number.
Just cut your hair already.

Gee, there's an awful lot of hair Nazis on this site. What an interesting experience it would be for some of these heroes to get in Polamalu's face (or any of the players that wear their hair how they want to) & call them effeminate or less than manly for how long their hair is. Hell, I'm 56 yrs old & my hair is halfway down my back & ----oh yeah, I'm also an ex-paratrooper & Vietnam vet & feel free to call me names because of the length of my hair & see how well you feel tomorrow!!!

No. The NFL said two years ago that the hair is part of the uniform. So, therefore it can be used to tackle a player.

the hair is part of the uniform so its not aginst the rules, hell id like to see more tackles by the hair maybe it would stop more players from wearing it long it looks stupid, and now that theres at least 2 players on every team wearing it that way tackles by the hair are going to happen more frequently, not to mention the fact it just looks dumb

No, they know the risks involved.
It's not great to be pulled down by your hair, but their hair is blocking the ability of someone to grab the back of their jersey. It would be an unfair advantage for someone not to be able to grab someone's hair if they purposefully grow it so long that it limits the ability of another player to tackle them.

No - the long hair should be banned. The old time coaches like Bear Bryant are probably rolling over in their graves because of the long hair being allowed in the league nowadays. If it don't fit under the helmet - then cut it! Just ask Johnny Damon about it. It is despicable, and feminine, and there is no place for it in the NFL.......

If it's outside the helmet, it's part of the uniform and thus fair game. Don't want it pulled, either tuck it in or cut it off.

No. I think if you have long hair you should be prepared to get yanked to the ground by it.
