Why should gay marriage be legalized? Sorry guys, I am totally for gay marriage, and I'm trying to write a persuasive formal paper, and I need some more ideas dealing with gay marriage so if you could help me out that'd be great!

Okay, I am a gay guy, so this may sound weird, but I don't think they should legalize gay marriage. I think we should have the same rights, but not call it 'Marriage" persay, as that seems to drive the Hetro society crazy. We should have commitment ceremonies, but have the same legal rights as a Heterosexual married couple.

Considering the state of the world(and no, I'm not talking JUST financially either), I'd question why anyone would seriously wish to get married (whether the marriage is hereto or homo sexual) without a very SERIOUS amount of pre-marriage counseling. Personally, I believe that if BOTH people truly love each other and can TRULY see themselves growing old together before, during and after counseling, then go for it. Love is the ONLY thing worth fighting for. No matter what others may say about it.

Gay marriage should be legalized because love is not a definition of man and woman but a definition of feeling one feels towards someone. marriage is the same. The only thing that prevents this is the the people who think gay is a disease. those are the people who say the legalization of gay marriage is bad. I think that says why opinion on this matter.....

"This is a nation of SECULAR Laws, NOT Religious laws. All laws are to be fair and equal for all citizens, which also means access to such laws."
Our law is based on English commonlaw, taken straight from the Bible.
Everyone has equal rights to marry a person from the opposite sex. It's not like straight people can marry a bigger variety than gays.
And marriage is religious. I think gay couples need civil unions with equal perks and protections, but I think it would be wrong to force churches to marry gay couples. Give gays civil unions and then let the individual chuch decide, that's what I say.

No doubt people get together and fall in love but I don't support same sex marriage. I believe marriage is between a man and a women because they can create life. It's sacred. Gay people can adopt but no matter how many ways you put it a man and a man and a woman and a woman can not create life. I do believe in civil unions for for same sex couples. I'm a gay man and that's how I feel.

so the christian right can have an collective apoplexy.!
..just kidding.
true love is a beautiful thing, and with so much hate and destruction a little bit of beauty should be fostered wherever it can be found.
the reasoning of "the bible doesn't allow it" is just one groups ideal, and shouldn't be forced on other people. The fact that gays would be married does them no harm whatsoever.
THEy are not the ones being maried to gays so like other people have said: its none of their business

Because 2 people who are in love wish to make a life-long commitment out of their relationship. Nobody is going to stop that fact, anyways. We might as well get the stamped piece of paper like everyone else.

Because it's NO ONE'S Business, especially the government's, who I LOVE, with whom I choose to spend my life.
This is a nation of SECULAR Laws, NOT Religious laws. All laws are to be fair and equal for all citizens, which also means access to such laws.
Bellow is a link to a list of over a THOUSAND reasons why same-sex marriage NEEDS to be legalized!:

if it's legalized let it be it's not effecting nobody else and also i believe that if you tried to change a gay person straight even if you did they would probably be unhappy to me it's like trying to make a homophobe gay you know how difficult that will be..
