I feel silly asking this, I have had my period for almost 10 years now, but I cannot remember how exactly to track your period. Assuming you have a normal 28 day cycle, is it 28 days from the last day of menses until you have another period, or is it 28 days from the first day of your last period?

I have been on and off of birth control for the past 4 years (more on than off) to prevent pregnancy and regulate my cycle, but decided to stay off of it for a while to see if my body regulates itself since I am not in a sexual relationship and do not plan on getting into one any time soon. I got my period from the 21st-26th (it's almost always 5 days long), so should I expect it (assuming it is regular) on Nov. 18th or Nov. 23rd?

I know that I have irregular ovulation, through bloodwork, etc. and ovarian cysts as well. I've been having ovulation pains for a few days now, even though I am not in the "middle" of my cycle. I know you can menstruate and not ovulate, and vice versa, so can you have a regular period with irregular ovulation?

I understand it is rare to have an exact 28 day cycle, but I am just using it as an example. The point of my question is what day do you start counting? The day after you start bleeding, or the day after you stop?

It has been proven that not all women have a 28 day cycle. The best thing for you to do is the next time you have a period, take not of the day you started and the day you finished and then do this for about three months to see how much it stays the same or if it changes. Some women can have a 26, a 21 or even a 30 day cycle. So you will have to keep records of when you start and finish to work out what your own cycle is.

I've always counted my cycle from the first day of my period ... So about 28 days after the start of my period, I'd start again.

To calculate the menstrual cycle you start from the first day that you bleed (this is also day 1 of your menstrual your period) and then count from there til the start of your next period.

This is also why when you go to the doctor and they take your medical history they ask for the first day of your last menstrual period. This ties in to part of how they calculate the due date of a woman who is pregnant.

I do save music of it. i'm sexually lively, yet have my tubes tied, for this reason not worrying approximately being pregnant. i'm getting on the brink of that menopause age (40 5) so I save music of it so i understand if it gets extraordinary. i've got in no way been precisely customary, i'm getting it each month, whether that's in no way a similar variety of days between cycles. whether you're actually not sexually lively, that's a stable thought to maintain music of it so if there is any situation you seize it early. How perplexing is it to mark on the calendar as quickly as a month?
