You can buy an after-market Xenon light kit. Do a Google search for HID light and you will get plenty of manufacturers. However, these after-market convertion lights are not street legal. The only street legal HID lights are by the car manufacturers.

Buying an aftermarket HID kit isn't the answer. You have the wrong type of reflector. A reflector designed for incandescent bulbs is NOT suitable for use with HIDs; unless you already have a car with a projection (ellipsoid) headlamp unit. If you deide to do it anyway without a reflector swap, you will blind on coming traffic, and may fail your state inspection.

There are many cheap kits around, and the bluish ones also make the car look cheap. Don't go above 6000k color temperature. These guys offer the cheapest kits I've seen. But their shipping is painfully slow (from Hong Kong). http://www.dealextreme.com/products.dx/category.711

To do the job properly, buy a pair of headlamp units either new or from a salvage yard, then buy an aftermarket HID kid.
Your 2000 323i uses the pre bi-xenon design. The bi-xenon design will not fit, they will only fit the facelifted models.

You might also be able to find genuine complete used BMW HID unit from a salvage yard, with an automatic headlamp height adjuster/sensor. That would of course be a 100% match to a factory unit.

Wait a minute... wait wait - 2000 BMW 323i?

You HAVE xenon headlights! ...and they ARE the upgrade (not HID).

When you turn on the engine, the driving lights come on, go up and down to self adjust, then if you turn your left knob clockwise to the right, the xenon headlamps come on.

Those headlamps have most likely never been replaced, and will never need replacing during your ownership of the car. They are vacuum sealed, and you'd be a fool to mess with them.

There are a whole bunch on the site below.
I would suggest buying pre-installed ones because it could be difficult to install the conversion kits yourself. Especially if your not really into DIY.
Hope this helps you out!

Oh BMW's are the best!!! I own 2 and love them!

don't know if your lamp can be upgraded to HID (High intensity Discharge) lamp w/c basically contains true xenon gas inside.
but try to check to any car accessories dealer if they have HID kits w/c is compatible to your headlight assembly.

if you do, i advise you go to 4300k or 6000k HID lamp output.
don't go beyond 8000-12000k..the're useless in rain and foggy weather. they can't easily penetrate. 3000k is best for bad weather since it emits yellow color.

good luck

I believe you can and here is a good website and these guys have done many different models for HID and Angel eyes. I bought some for my E38 ('00 740i) and they are awesome. Would never go back.

these aftermarket kits don't look so good, best just to deal with what you have until you can get a newer model
