The exclusion of Israel from full UN participation
Much of the operations of the UN, including appointments and elections to UN bodies, closed-door negotiations, and information-sharing sessions, take place in the context of five regional groups.
Africa
Asia
Eastern Europe
Latin America and the Caribbean (GRULAC)
the Western Europe and Others group (WEOG).
All UN members are a full member of a regional group except Israel. Israel is merely a temporary member of WEOG for a limited number of purposes.
NOTE: The exclusion of only Israel from full membership in a UN regional group is a violation of the UN Charter, which promises "the equal rights of nations large and small."

There is no UN definition of terrorism- The UN has no internationally-agreed definition of terrorism. The Arab Terrorism Convention and the Terrorism Convention of the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC) define terrorism to exclude armed struggle for liberation and self-determination. This claim purports to exclude blowing up certain civilians from the reach of international law and organizations. It is central to interpreting every statement that states which have ratified these conventions make in any UN forum purporting to combat terrorism.

UN non-action to combat terrorism- In the wake of 9/11, with great fanfare, the UN Security Council took action to become a leader in the war against terrorism. It adopted resolution 1373 on September 28, 2001. The resolution created the Counter-Terrorism Committee (CTC) . the CTC was created on September 28, 2001.
Since September 28, 2001 the CTC has NOT named a SINGLE terrorist, terrorist organization or state sponsor of terrorism.
Syria is one of five state sponsors of terrorism designated by the U.S. State Department. It was a member of the CTC for two years, from January 2002 to December 2003.
The five state sponsors of terrorism, Cuba, Iran, North Korea, Sudan and Syria write reports to the CTC about their compliance with Security Council Resolution 1373. In the absence of any UN definition of terrorism, all of these states readily proclaim they are engaged in a vigorous campaign to combat terrorism.

The Law of the seas treaty A.K.A. L.O.S.T.(reintroduced by 2008 Candidate Joe Biden)
The treaty provides universal legal standards for shipping, fishing, and mining and codifies customary navigation and transit principles already followed by most states. Proponents of the convention, including President Bush, say it will enhance U.S. security on the high seas. But a number of conservative lawmakers remain concerned the treaty may harm U.S. industry and hinder counterterrorism efforts. http://www.cfr.org/publication/13851/is_the_united_states_ready_to_approve_the_law_of_the_sea_treaty.html
