I took them both. Geology is easier. Astronomy was harder, but it wasn't like it was Calc II or anything.

Find out which teacher is better and go with him or her.

Take geology, extremely. Geology isn't the learn of rocks, that's the learn of Earth. *Petrologists* are the adult men who spend their lives reading rocks, and that i could suck on the tip of a 12-gauge if absolutely everyone instructed me that I had to try this. Petrology is a sub-self-discipline of geology. there are a number of sub-disciplines. Mineralogy, sedimentology, planetary geology, paleontology (2 varieties), hydrogeology, oceanography, container geology, geophysics, engineering geology... ... I went into engineering geology, while you evaluate that's what hobbies me. I additionally paintings with a superb variety of hydrogeology as element of my paintings. yet why do I say geology? no longer basically by way of fact that's greater smart to learn planetary geology.. yet by way of fact realistically, in case you *can no longer* get a job as a planetary geologist, a level in geology will circulate away MANY greater job possibilities for you in an endless variety of fields in accordance with many sub-disciplines. Astronomy is cool... yet does not unavoidably do an extremely sturdy job of paying the expenses, in spite of in case you will discover paintings (which isn't undemanding). And... astronomy, previous looking planets, has noticeably little to do with reading them. the human beings at the back of the Mars Rover missions are no longer astronomers. they're especially geologists and chemists.

For astronomy, you can learn more about the subject before the course, and extra about it during the course, by reading encyclopedias, general knowledge books, and so on.

Geology is interesting too (I did both of those subjects) but information about it outside your course material is less easy to absorb because the terminology is a bit more specialised and difficult.
