I disagree with the answerer above. Yes, we have water issues, but we also live in a desert. And we are prepared. We deal with conservation every day of our lives. Just like we are with our electricity (a big part of the energy needed for Southern California is generated in Arizona). I think it has good and bad, it's brown all year long, but for 6 months out of the year, it is gorgeious while the rest of the country is freezing. We are less than a days drive from the mountains, from Vegas, and from the beach (either Mexico or San D). So location wize, it is great.

My husband and I moved here in 1999 after we got married. We left all of our friends and family behind in NJ, and the only people we knew out here was his dad & stepmom. But over time we grew to LOVE Arizona! My entire immeidate family including my grandma, best friend, & best friend's parents eventually moved out here. Best friend's brother and another childhood friend moved here as well.
We are happily raising our family and have plenty of optinos if we want to experience alternative weather. We went camping a few weeks ago in the Payson area and it was freezing at night, but gorgeous autumn weather during the day. We were able to purchase a beautiful large home that was affordable. Something we never could have afforded at home in NJ. The water situation is always being improved upon and if we just practice the slightest conservation of our resources anywhere in the country, it's not as bad as people make it seem to be.
I am quite happy living here, and while the area continues to grow, you will find plenty of opportunities for the future.
Good luck!

Phoenix and Las Vegas are having 1,000 families move in a month. What's heaven now may not be so great later.
You need to secure a job ANYWHERE before moving. You can't live a comfortable life just walking into a town without connections and expecting to just surge to the top. Expecting to have a family only increases the need for income more.
Don't go where life is tough just for the weather. Go where life will allow you to blossom and move to heaven after you're set.

Ya I agree that first poster maximum no longer stay in AZ. i think of Arizona is a super place to stay. Its warm interior the summertime definite. yet once you reside in Phoenix, you force 2 hours north, and are interior the mountains for a super coolish kinda day. i think of Phoenix area ( contains all surrounding cities) is the best play to stay.

Probably a bad idea. I may be biased since I live in Ohio, but I don't think it's a good idea for one reason. Most of the southwest is going to run out of water in the next ten to twenty years. I mean, it would be fine to retire there if you were 70 or something, but to start a family there? I don't know.

Between the scorching heat, the illegals, the crime, the traffic, the horrible drivers, and the fact that it's getting overcrowded with more people moving here every day...........I really don't like it.
