Depends on how sentimental you are. Your kids aren't going to want to wear your dress, and you'll probably forget you even have it 20 years from now. I'm not sentimental, so I looked into renting and it wasn't much cheaper than buying. Also, I didn't have a good experience with the rental shop people. Also, you can alter a rented dress. It's very expensive! My options are buying one or having one made for the same price. I'm not getting married until October so I still have some time.

I think you should buy them. my sister rented hers. And I bought mine. I think the ones that you rent aren't as delicate. And the one that I bought wasn't that much more then the ones that you rent. Of course this depends on how nice of a dress you want. Also I think it will be nice to take out my dress and show my daughter someday. My sister can't ever do that.

Buy. What if you want to pass it to a daughter, and renting you never know who wore it, if they had BO no amount of dry cleaning gets that smell out, and I have known of brides that dranks so much they barfed all over themselves. Yes, buy.
Edit- I saved mine and my daughter always wanted to wear it and she did, she modified the sleeves to make it a little more modern and loved it.

Depends on the cost of purchase, but every woman I have asked regretted it if they spent $1,000's on it. Every single one. Rent it.

I think you should buy it. So that this special gown worn on your very special day will forever be yours and just remain as your posession. I mean, it holds a great deal of significance to you, doesn't it? :)

i would rent it as its hard to store and takes up room and most the time none of the family wants to use it and wants their own and pick their own style. so thats what i would do.

Have to go with buy on this one..
You will want to keep it just for sentimental value, but also to pass on to your daughter or future daughter-in-law.
