My Boyfriend and his family whom i love beyond belief and are pretty much the most important people in my life, have a grandson. Well it's His grandson. The boy is 10 & i have asked a few questions before regarding the kid. He is beyond any 10 year old i have ever seen. he calls his mother a *****, uses the f word like it was candy, hits any one he so chooses with a big metal bat, tortures the neighborhood animals and on and on and on. his family says that he just has a few issues and to let him be. Well i'm not going to let some obnoxious out of control little brat hit me with a bat or call me curse words that no kid has any busines saying. But it is also not my place to correct the kid. i feel totally uncomfortable in the house when he is there. But i don't want to hurt my Boyfriend or His family. How do i tell them i can't be around when the kid is there without it sounding like an ultimatum or needlessly hurting them?

You tell them exactly what you just typed above. It's clear and very obvious what the right thing is to do. If they love you, as much as you love them, they'll do the right thing (for everyone's sake - especially the kid's) and correct the behavior. If they don't, then walk out and make it an ultimatum if you have to.

If he's blowing it off (which is the reason this brat is the way he is in the first place), do you really want to bring more kids into the picture one day with this person?? Their loss if they leave it alone.

Trust me, from experience, those issues don't get better when left unattended and it'll be a huge source of stress for you, if you allow it to continue unchecked....and it's just not worth it. Life's too short.

And, btw, if you're stressed out about this and what it can mean in your future with this guy, because his family is clearly part of the package (as it normally is), then that makes it your business, b/c that will affect YOUR life. Don't let anyone convince you otherwise.

If the kid is in your home you have every right to tell him to watch his mouth and not to hit anyone. His parents aren't helping him by ignoring the behavior.

Just say that this is my house and that type of behavior is unacceptable. Then take the bat.
Do not raise your voice, keep it firm, but low.
What he does outside your house is not your business.

You don't. It's not your business. You keep your mouth shut or you will lose the boyfriend.
