I am 24, have never been pregnant before, and just took two pregnancy urine tests today from 2 different facilities. I took them bc one my period is late but also bc sometimes I have menstrual-like cramps with no period and also sometimes my head spins lightly and I feel strange, like dizzy and light headed. I also get out of breath and my heart starts to race really fast and it's kinda scary. I admit I drink caffeine everyday at least 1 drink with caffeine in it, could it be bc of the caffeine or bc I am pregnant? I don't know how far along I am will find out this week but I know I can't be that far along bc I just had my last period like a month and a half ago. Is it normal to have heart palpitations this early and to feel out of breath sometimes? For the record I also am really skinny so it's not bc of excess weight or anything. I also have no nausea yet or even strange food cravings, is that weird?

My heart rate was always around 117-135 until I was about 6 months pregnant. I kept meaning to ask my doctor about it but I always forgot, so I still don't know why. He never seemed to be worried about it though, so I guess it was nothing to worry about. Caffeine probably isn't the cause unless you drink alot of it. You probably are just too active and not eating enough. I get really light headed when I haven't eaten in a while. Try snacking on something with some COMPLEX carbohydrates and protein, and see if that makes you feel any better. Definitely go to a doctor ASAP and tell him everything. Also, some women never have any nausea or cravings, and the ones who do USUALLY don't start until they are at least 6 weeks pregnant.

If you haven't had your period and have had 2 positive tests, it is very likely that you are indeed pregnant. Lightheaded-ness is common in pregnancy...even fainting. Your body may be responding differently to the caffeine it was used to before you were pregnant. Best to start to curb that anyhow. Headaches are common due to extra estrogen. With many of my pregnancies I had shortness of breath and infrequent heart palpatations. I was in good shape, exercised daily, and suddenly early on in pregnancy I would notice it harder to catch my breath. Nausea often doesn't start until week 10 or so when the hormones are stronger...so it is not uncommon for you to not have any yet. You are 4 weeks pregnant when you miss your period, and it has been 2 weeks from that point since you concieved. Check your social calendar and you can probably guess how far along you are! Best to make an apointment with a doctor ASAP. They will need to confirm pregnancy with a blood test and an ultrasound and can give you a more accurate date. Many important tests are conducted early, so give yourself the best start by getting in soon, and be sure to discuss all symptoms with your doctor. Those you have described so far sound normal, and you'll be in for a whole lot more as you progress! Good luck and congratulations!!

All of the things you're describing I have experienced with both my pregnancies. It was especially bad when I would take a warm shower (that's how I found out both times that I was pregnant). Cut back on the caffeine for a few days and see if it helps with the racing heart, but chances are good that your body is just adjusting to pregnancy.

Definitely make an appointment to get checked out, and I suggest reading up on dietary expectations during pregnancy. Take care of yourself right now, the first trimester is the most important.

Food cravings probably wont come for a couple months, and you might be one of those lucky women who never experiences morning sickness, everyone is different. It's difficult to ask a forum of women about "weird" or "normal" because everyone will have a variation of what the next person says.

Good luck to you and your baby and congratulations!

Well firstly let me say you should speed up that visit to the doctor, bc this doesn't sound normal at all. I had my baby 5 weeks ago so I think I can tell you, for a second opinion you should really call a doctor. Perhaps you're not eating well enough, the first trimester is very critical cause the baby takes a lot from you. It could also be your body telling you to lay-off some of your normal routines! Take a time out, you may be causing yourself stress & not even know it! For the record, my cousin--who had her baby just 4 weeks ago as well--didn't know she was pregnant for up to 6 months! She wasn't showing & she had a regular period. So you can't necessarily rely on your period to ALWAYS know if your expecting or not.

Hi, wait until your period is 1 day late and test. I don't believe in these 4 day early test, not only do they cause stress and anxiety, but they are only a mere 53% accurate! Wait until your are late and test, that way the test is 99% accurate. I am currently pregnant and found out 8 days ago, My symptoms were, lots of creamy cm from 3dpo, sore nipples and veins appearing on my breasts, my smell has changed, i am so tired i cannot even describe! my temp is high 37+, and for the past week or so i have been having period type cramps, not painful just feels like i have got a tummy ache! I spoke to my friend yesterday as she had her baby a week ago, and she said when she 1st found out she was pregnant she had lots of discharge and period type cramps. I am really trying to keep calm as this is my 3rd time pregnant in 8 months of trying. We began in May last year and that was ectopic, we tried again in August, i fell pregnant Oct/Nov then miscarried December, 5 cycles later i am pregnant again. The other 2 times i was pregnant i was not this tired nor did i have these cramps, so am hoping all is ok this time. Good luck anyway and i hope you are pregnant. Oh ps i just new i was pregnant, i had a feeling x x

I need to know your exact date of your last menstrual period (known as LMP) to give you a proper gestational age and due date but you said a month and a half so I will go by 6weeks back from today which would put you at...

LMP of approx 19th September which means your 6 weeks pregnant and due on the 25th June 2008. Just count however many weeks and days it has been since your last period and thats how far along you are. Then a pregnancy is 280 days or 40 weeks long so you can calculate a due date from there.

As for you symptoms they could all be possible pregnancy symptoms especially the dizzy ness and lightheadedness. No nausea is a good sign for you! thank your lucky stars and food cravings can come and go all through the pregnancy or not at all.

Best of luck and go see a doc for a checkup and proper due date and consult your calendar as to the exact date you had your last period so they can give you an accurate due date.

First, congratulations on your pregnancy! I think the sensation of feeling dizzy and lightheaded might be morning sickness. I started feeling morning sickness with mine around week 7. I think that part is pretty normal. And for the record, I never felt any of those food cravings. I do, however, recommend that you cut out the caffeine. It might be a good idea to try it and see if it helps with some of the heart palpitations. It seems like if I ate chocolate, which only has a little bit of caffeine, I always felt worse.

Some of that dizziness and light headedness is here to stay for a while though! Saltine crackers helped me with that, as well as making sure my stomach was full. I think you have to eat more frequent snacks throughout the day. I am the type that will go for a long time between meals, but during pregnancy I had to force myself to eat.

Take care of yourself! I also recommend the book, What to Expect When You're Expecting. This will give answers to many of those worrisome pregnancy questions.

In pregnancy it is very normal for your bodily process to increase this includes getting out of breath. During preg this will increase as you get bigger or as bub grows all your internal organs shift to accomdate growing uterus which means there is extra pressure around your heart and lung area and also because blood volume increases during preg. Most preg symptoms vary women to women just keep that in mind it still very early yet so just wait and see some people get symptoms like cravings straight away and some don't just keep healthy and keep active and try drinking plently of water and rest when you can congrats and Lol!

I got tired easily and stuff too, but I was a bit further along. It didn't help the Army had us walking everywhere!

I would talk to your ob about it, you may have a heart condition you did not know about.... I drank caffeine, and I didn't have any of the symptoms you described. Who knows, maybe it's just dehydration, simple fix. I would ask your doc, they will know whats best ;). Good luck!

I just found out also that I am pregnant because i thought i had the flu with same symptoms, nausea, dizzy lightheaded. My boss actually took me to the hospital. She thought i was sick, not sick just a bad case of Pregnancy. I would go to the doc and have them check your HcG level, that will tell if you are or aren't. Good Luck
