I think he would be a little pissed. All that work to win a successful rebellion against the British crown to start a Democratic government and Bush comes along and basically proclaims himself king. Washington was a true leader, Bush, to put it kindly, is not. Washington was a General, Bush used his connections to get him a spot in the Texas Air National Guard to avoid going to war in Vietnam.

I am sure George Washington would not like you or most of the people running the country now.
As a matter of fact if Washington were President right now several members of the press would nave already been executed for publishing classified state secrets.
Not to mention quite a few congress people of both houses, parties and sexes would have been dealt with.

Before you ask what some one would do in a situation it would help to know more about them than was written in a 5th grade history book.

the Founding Fathers of this country were some SERIOUS men and would not have put up with the behavior exhibited by a large amount of congress and for that matter your hero's like Sean Penn and Michel Moore would have found our real quick what is supposed to happen to those whom deal in sedition and treasonous behavior.

General Washington would throw up his hands in disgust and shame that the Nation he fought so hard and long to help bring into being had fallen into such hideous disrepair.

Most of this country's ignorant populace can no longer distinguish the difference between a Constitutional Republic governed by the rule of Law, and a Democracy ruled over by the moneyed Elitists who have long controlled both of our major political parties.

The fools who blindly cling to the Neo-Con notion of a Unitary Executive in hopes of warding off Muslim extremism,
or demographic invasion from our southern neighbor, are no better than the boot-licking Torries of his time.

Just as dangerous, are the socialist idiots whose Statist ambitions are incrementally propelling us towards the total loss of our National Sovereignty to further their vision of a Utopian society administrated by a World Government.

I believe the General would advocate that you first learn the nature of your true enemies, and then fight them in the halls of power to regain your birthright.

Everyone in the colonies did not support the war with England. Many thought it was a lost cause. George Washington continued to fight an unpopular war until he achieved victory. I think he and W would get along just fine.

Change Europe to The Middle East to get your answer.

"Why forego the advantages of so peculiar a situation?--Why quit our own to stand upon foreign ground?--Why by interweaving our destiny with that of any part of Europe, entangle our peace and prosperity in the toils of European ambition, rivalship, interest, humour or caprice? "

George Washington

I like this one also:
"The liberality of sentiment toward each other, which marks every political and religious denomination of men in this country, stands unparalleled in the history of nations."

"Jeeeez, did we have to spell everything in the Constitution out, for you to understand?! Should we make a pop-up picture version for you?"

interesting how many folks here think George Washington would punish people for exercising their freedom of speech, while our founding fathers were some of the biggest ones for bad mouthing the government, who ever walked the planet.

Any reasonable president, including Washington, would be sickened by another president who fabricated evidence to support a war he wanted to wage to satisfy a personal vendetta, i.e., the Bush family hate for Saddam Hussein.

Since Washington wasn't particularly religious he's probably be quite surprised.
