Maybe.
If it were a family name, I would probably use it.
I don't think I would pull it out of a hat, but with names like Hazel and Esther racing up the popularity charts, can Prudence be so far behind?
Especially with the lovely Beatles song ...

NO WAY JOSE!!! The only thing i like about Prudence is the nickname Pru. I go for more modern and creative names. We i think of Prudence I think of a wrinkly 93 year old lady playing bingo with her BFF Mary Anne.

My uncle almost named my cousin that (after the Beatles song). I probably wouldn't use it, but I think it's a nice name. It's a lot better than some of the names posted on here...

In a word? No.
I tend to avoid word names -- especially the virtue sort that can tend to become ironic. What if "Prudence," for example, turns out to have unfortunately poor judgment? LOL Or worse, makes all the stereotypically "wrong" decisions in a willful teenage rebellion against her presumptuous moniker? ;)
Not the sort of hassle I'd invite.

My aunts name is Prudencia, but she goes by Prudence. It's an okay name, but I dont know if I would name my child that.
And whoever said your kid would be teased... well she was never teased. I have never ever seen anyone get beat up or teased because of a name. Where do you people get that from?

Sorry, but no. I like that it is different, but it just doesn't feel pretty to me. Plus, think of how much teasing she would get in high school and college for being a "prude". Maybe as a middle name if it really has a symbolic meaning for you.

Never, its just such a dated name, I think if it were my name I would go by Rudy, it is the cutest abbreviation I can think of.
Alot of people shorten names even if they are fairly short to begin with,- having people call my child Prude doesn"t appeal to me

No I would not. I would not want it to be my name or any of my friends name. But if your child is named that and grows up to be cool it will become a popular name. It your kid is a nerd, it will be picked on even more so.
