They say 6 weeks. I should have asked why. Maybe you all know? I did not tear or anything at all, I stopped bleeding 3 days ago, and it has been 3 weeks since I had baby. I have no pain in that area and feel just fine.
My QUESTION is.....I have to go in one week to get 4 week check up from OBGYN (I wont have sex till then, after talking to doctor). Is it POSSIBLE that he might clear my husband and I to go ahead and have sex and not have to wait 2 more weeks and after he gives me my Birth Control??? Anyone have a similiar experience?

the reason is because your cervix is still open leaving it easy to get infections. but honestly theres soo many people that have sex a week after and are fine. i would just be careful and mae sure both of you are xtra clean down there. (not saying you arent ). i waited for 5 weeks.

I know of a friend who said she had sex less than two weeks after, and to be honest, I didn't wait the six weeks either.
Like you, I didn't tear, and my labor and delivery were unexceptional, and everything was ok. I would say if you feel ok in doing it, go for it, you might be a bit tender.. but it's to be expected.
I don't know the validity of this, but my mom said that a couple decades ago, couples had double beds in hospitals for married couples after a delivery, and that 9 months later those families were back, which would mean they had sex right after the baby came... I thought it was completely crazy, but hey... I suppose it happens.

I tried at about 4 weeks with the first and although I did have a tear, it hurt like buggery and we had to stop. Tried again 2 weeks later and all was great!
With the 2nd I only grazed slightly and we tried at about 5weeks and it was great although never quite the same!!
Wait until you see the doc and then take it from there. Use condoms until you get birth control unless you want to give birth twice in 11mths that is!!
best of luck

They say 6 weeks because it takes that amount of time for your body to finish healing from the birth process. I would listen to the doctor at your 4 week check up.

With my first I waited about 2 months and with my second it was 6 weeks. Although my doc told me I could at 4 weeks. I had c sections both times.

He probably will say it's ok. After he checks to make sure you're doing ok, he'll probably say go ahead whenever you feel up to it.
You must be fairly young (I was 37 when I had my son), because at three weeks - nursing every couple of hours, not getting consistent sleep, AND still recovering from childbirth - sex was the LAST thing on my mind! :-)

its possible he wil say its ok....its not a matter of waiting six weeks...its a matter of your doctor telling you that your uterus is back to normal and eerything inside is ok. and normally it takes six weeks and thats when a typically postpartum check up is.
if for some reason something inside of your isnt right or your get an infection or whatever than sex wouldnt be safe, so basically its the doctors call.

I had been on pelvic rest throughout my entire pregnancy, so I had sex two weeks after delivery. I had a C-section, so no worries on the "vaginal" end of things, BUT we did use a condom to help prevent any infection.
