I have been on my job for less than a year and do not qualify for maternity leave or pay.

Check with your insurance provider. You may have a plan that pays you for extended time off. Its not really common, but they are out there. There are lots of other ways to earn money from home too. You could try getting rid of some unwanted items on Ebay or (if you're handy) you might be able to take on some sewing for extra cash. It sounds cheesy, but I only had three weeks paid leave and was able to earn enough to get me through the other three by doing Ebay. And.. don't forget that now is the time to ask favors of family and friends who are just dying to help out. When they say things like "let me buy you dinner", ask them to contribute to your emergency maternity fund. You could even set up a little piggy bank for the occasion.

I don't think so because majority of the time the minimum you have to be off work for legal purposes is 6wks regardless of method of delivery.

Try government agencies to see if you qualify based on income.

No, unless you had to leave your job for good and then you could apply for unemployment (but don't hold your breath). Essentially though, you're on your own during this time. As unfair as that is!!
