We are expecting our second child next year. I want something a little different (not in the top 20 names), but NOT wierd either. My husband is Indian (I am not). Neela is a hindu name meaning "blue color". Nina and Neena are also hindu names meaning "beautiful eyes". I would love to hear some honest thoughts. Thanks.

Neena is not my own creative spelling version of Nina. I have looked up Indian names and I see it spelled both ways.

Yes, there is a Neela character on the show "ER"...I found that out after I started to consider the name, but that doesn't bother me.

I know Grace is a very common middle name. I always wanted it as a first name but since it is so common these days, I thought I would go with it as a middle name.

Thanks...Keep 'em coming!

I like Neela and Nina, but don't care for Neena. It looks made up even if it isn't. The other two sound great though. To be honest I am a little tired of the middle name Grace. Here are some other middle name ideas.
Neela Clair
Neela Katherine
Neela June
Neela Blaire
Neela Kristen
Neela Quinn
Nina Paige
Nina Brogan
Nina Elisabeth
Nina Victoria
Nina Treece
Nina Maryn

I like both Neela or Nina/Neena but if you choose Nina go with that spelling especially if you are living in the US it will make it a lot easier for her.

Neela Grace is a lovely name to me. Its something I have heard before so its not weird. I think a character from ER is Neela??

I am kind of partial to Nina Grace just for the simple fact that I have a cousin named Nina Catherine and one named Emma Grace. But I like Neela too. There is a character on ER named Neela and I love her.

Neela is lovely, but if you want something that's only a *little* different, then I think Nina is the right choice. It's meaningful and honors her heritage, but is not dramatically exotic.

Neena might be a nice compromise, but unfortunately, it looks more like a kreeatif spelling than a nod towards your husband's traditions.

I'd stick with Nina Grace.

I like Neela and Nina equally, but would avoid "Neena." After all, most already know how to say Nina ... no need to hold their hands when the classic spelling is that much more attractive. ;) To be quite honest, I prefer the traditional Nila spelling over all of them! I realize pronunciation and spelling issues are slightly more likely than with the phonetic Neela form, but with a short, four-letter name, that really doesn't seem like that problematic an issue. Nila Grace would certainly get my vote. ;)
