I'm a student and at school we all use ARSUPER Shears by ARS Corporation which are really great, but I'm looking to replace them with new ones of the same kind or a different brand.

But before I spend a lot of money I'd like some advice. I'm considering Gingher Shears, as I really like the quality of my small embroidery ones and can only imagine they're equally as good?

If anyone can recommend me brands/types, or just tell me which is best please do so. Unfortunately I'm not looking for those generic plastic ones that they sell for less than 10-15 bucks. I'm willing to spend up to 60 for amazing scissors.

BTW FISKERS is not a high end brand. It's generically cheap. I'm looking for quality not convenience.

If all your experience with fabric scissors are Fiskers, YOU NEED NOT REPLY. Fiskers are a joke.

Fiskars are the brand I choose the most... whether it is shears to cut carpet, or mini's with a sharp tip, I like their tools. I most often buy the 'Softouch' style, and have never been disappointed. I once made the mistake of bringing in a pair from my tool box, and my wife 'borrowed' them.... Ive since invested in several more pairs, of various size and style, because family members keep running off with them, lol.

I like the no-slip comfort handles, extremely sharp edges, and spring actions. Ive done a lot of carpet seams and repairs with my fiskars, as well as using them on industrial sergers and sewing machines.

Fiscars have a professional line that is kind of hard to find but I have a set that is four years old and they are great. Two are regular shears, (Large and Small) and one is pinking. Really hold their edge.

egads, a shear snob.... just get the ones you had before and you'll be fine.... you wouldn't know a good brand if it bit you....if you REALLY need another 'brand' look to the Japanese...
