cartoons, movies, music, clothes, toys, food, jewelry, etc. etc. all to keep us away from the truth. are we pawns in a chess game? is this how a human is meant to live? are we really free? do we really need all these material objects and worldly possessions? in life, especially for a human, all we need is love.

It's possible to be overcome by material objects but being brainwashed by them i dont think so if your that crazy about a cartoon, movie, music, clothes, toys, food, jewelry you could become obsessed
I doubt you can say "ive never been addicted to something" Even if its a tv show you like and want to watch over and over its pure addiction even though it may not seem like it Love isnt the only thing we need :D
but yet maybe thats just my brainwashed mind talking x]

Any society involving two or more people will involve rules ostensibly for "the common good" but which will usually favour a particular party.
In Western culture, a lifetime of persistent subtle influences are promoted by commercial and political interests to ensure our mute compliant acceptance of ensuring their longevity.
Many people in non-Western societies (and some individuals within) live happy fulfilled lives without these seductive influences and do not experience the attendant problems of spiralling credit debt, vanishing resources or illegal war involvements.
Such people needn't be leftists, liberals or anarchic just independent thinkers with backbones willing to pursue non mass-marketed mainstream thought.
Addendum: May independent thought preserve us from the Bible-perverting fundamentalists seeking to forcibly impose their instilled thoughts upon the rest if us!

Of course, it's all a part of being in this thing that we call "civilization." Of course to find a more concise answer to your question, you must first answer your own question, "how is a human meant to live?" and what does "free" really mean, to you? You sound like you might do well to look into the Buddhist faith, it just might be the path that you would do well to follow.

YES, I agree that we are basically being brainwashed if we watch alot of TV. The TV pretty much sends the messege repeatedly that we have to have certain things in order to be "normal". We definitely do not need all these things. It does start very early on. Little girls like Princesses and the colors pink and purple because they see it everywhere. Boys like Pirates, super heroes, and cars because of all the hype associated with those movies. Little girls grow up thinking that they are worthless unless they look like models and dress sexy and boys think they need to drive the nicest car, live in the biggest house, etc. Adult women think they have to have plastic surgery, hair dye, etc in order to look good and feel worthy. Men have also been brainwashed with sexy ads and movies, etc. They think it's normal to spend hours looking at porn, and then they think real women aren't normal if they don't look like and act like the women in porn. No one is happy this way. TV needs to be replaced with families interacting with each other and LOVING each other no matter what they have or how they look. I do think the truth is being drowned out, and that the devil himself is at the root of it all. As long as we keep allowing him to saturate our lives with his BS, we won't hear the good things that God is trying to tell us. All we need is love, and God is love.

okay that last part about love is sick. any way finally someone who beleives we are getting brainwashed by aliens to get sucked into a portal and make us their slaves. and no we dont need these worldly posessions becuz the rapture is coming so we wont be able to take our worldy possesions with us. and what about those starving people in africa dying of starvation and all we are thinking about is if we'll get the newest car coming out for graduation day

Of course. For years we used to hear about "communist propaganda" being spread in Russia and China, but until the hippies got wise, you never heard anyone talk about capitalist propaganda. The sooner you recognize it for what it is, the sooner you will have a Pavlovian aversion to voting Republican and even a distaste for the fact that your only practical choice for keeping Republicans from destroying America is a Democrat!

Congrats, you have had a free thinking experience. Yes I do think we are being programed. This is why I try to think freely as possible, come up with my own ideas whenever I can, and just stay above the influence.

yes we are all being program. resistance is futile and when we do resist we get thrown in jail for being terrorist. We get censored when we have "freedom of speech" yeah right we have no freedoms and if someone doesn't like this question or my answer they can report it. think about it.
Ever notice we also have more allergies than older generations, we have more health problems, children also have more problems. The food is bad for us. This is killing us, that is going to kill us.
