What do YOU call them?

Question

Here we call them sub(marine) sandwiches, (Ca).
When I lived in Pa we called them hoagies.
I have also heard them called grinders...
What do YOU call the sandwiches on French style rolls in the area you live?
What is your region?
and
What is your favorite sub/hoagie/grinder etc..?
And who makes the best? Small deli? Large chain?

Nothing great here.
San Jose has great Vietnamese sandwiches, so yummy.
And an excellent deli on 2nd street. Turkey, cream cheese with cranberry orange relish. :P

Well, I've lived all over, but as a Philly native I call 'em hoagies.

When I lived in NY they called them heroes and out here in Denver they call them subs (but they are absolutely wretched).

And, clearly, WaWa makes the best hoagies!! But Lee's Hoagies is a close second.

theyre called submarines too.

and the best-tasting ones are the subway sandwiches and quizno's

i do like deli-made but it depends which deli. the deli close to my skewl makes crappy subs. they reheat them

In MS, we call them Subs....

I love the roasted chicken breast with swiss cheese.

Subway all the way.... Esp when you live in a small town and the only other fast food restaurant is Sonic!!!
