I ask because I'm sitting here listening to Rocket To Russia and it really hit me how much I love this damn band. There isn't one sub-par song on the first three albums and only one or two sketchy ones on the fourth.

Right now "Ramona" is topping my list of the greats.

Although "Rockaway Beach" "Cretin Hop" "Teenage Lobotomy" "Why Is It Always This Way?" is close, as well as "Suzy Is A Headbanger" "Commando" "Glad To See You Go" "Gimme Gimme Shock Treatment" "Blitzkrieg Bop" "Loudmout" "Havanna Affair" "I Don't Wanna Go Down To The Basement" and you get the point. But Ramona for now, has some of their best pop and punk moments. Fan-f**king-tastic.

"Beat On The Brat" is another I should have mentioned but I had to cut myself off. And even though It's Alive is my favorite live album ever, the great people at Rhino did a reissue of Leave Home with a small live set from '76 as bonus tracks, and the live versions of "Beat On The Brat" and "53rd & 3rd" are absolutley killer. Rougher, louder, and grittier sounding than anyother recording I've heard from them, and plus I don't think either of those gems were on It's Alive.

"Carbona Not Glue" really is one of the better ones, one of my favorites. But I could say one of my favorites for a few hundred songs, but it's one of my favorite favorites. I didn't like the second album the first time I heard a few songs off of it, something about the production, the vocals sounded different, but when i went and bought it I felt like a moron. It's easily just as good as anything else they put out! Jamp-packed with classics.

And I never got why some people put Acid Eaters down, I personally love cover albums, I love hearing a band's take on their unfluences and seeing what they like. But I always thought it was a great set of covers. Speaking of, the cover of "1969" on Joey's solo album did it for me too, also not a bad album.

That's the point with The Ramones...there are so many great songs, but my favourite has always been "Carbona Not Blue". I just find it the most interesting take on their formula...the riff is spectacular(ooops... please excuse the typo)

Ah geez, you had to ask that. That's like asking if I had to lose an appendage, which one would I choose. So many incredible tunes that stand the test of time, and the thing is, they still sound as fresh as they did when the band started over 30 years ago. For the moment, just because it popped into my head, I'll have to say my favorite song is We're A Happy Family but if you asked me tomorrow my mind would have changed. Up in the mix for the top spot (at least for the moment would be Rockaway Beach, Rock 'n' Roll High School, Now I Wanna Sniff Some Glue, Pinhead, and Bonzo Goes To Bitburg, but that can change just as easily. What an amazing band. It's hard to imagine what today's music scene would be like without the influence of The Ramones.

You know, I have also been a fan of The Ramones since I first heard them, and here it is years and years later, and they are still my all-time, never have to think about it for a SECOND favorite band ever.
As to your answer, my favorite all-time favorite Ramones song is Apeman Hop, off of their Animal Boy album. I'm not sure if it's the real driving quality of the guitar in it, or the really vivid story of the song, but the song has got a quality that stays with you. I mean here it is 21 years after I heard the song, and it is still the first song I think of whenever the "Who's your favorite band?" question comes up.
For all who love The Ramones, old and new, if you don't have the album Animal Boy, go get it. It's like maybe ten bucks, and you not only get this great song, but a great song about Sid & Nancy (Love Kills), a great song about the Reagan era (Bonzo Goes To Bitburg) but you will also get another puzzle piece to the genius that is The Ramones.

ha! I refuse to play your little game. It's impossible to choose a favorite, especially when it's a band like the Ramones.

Well, I guess if I had to choose it'd be Suzy Is A Headbanger...it's the song that made me go out and buy their CD.

I'd also like to add that they kicked *** with Acid Eaters. All covers, but they're some of the best.

"Blitzkrieg Bop" is my favorite. In fact, on iTunes, it's my second most played song, so it may as well be in my top ten songs as well. I wish they did a faster studio version of it though.

I pretty much like anything from their debut album though, in particular the aforementioned song, "53rd & 3rd", "Judy Is A Punk", "I Wanna Be Your Boyfriend", and "Chainsaw".
